Zev was a recurring character in the sixth and seventh seasons. He was portrayed by Miles Chambers and debuted in "The Blood of Sanctum".
He was a Sanctumite, an Adjuster and the boyfriend of Daniel Lee.
Early Life[]
Not much is known about his early life. He was born on Sanctum and at one point became an Adjustor. He eventually entered a romantic relationship with Daniel Lee.
Throughout the Series[]
In The Blood of Sanctum, Zev is amongst the Adjustors in the tavern who have captured Nathan Miller, Octavia Blake, Bellamy Blake, Echo, Gaia, Layla and Nelson. As they present the Blood of Sanctum to the unbelievers, John Murphy and Emori, posing as a resurrected Daniel and Kaylee Lee, enter to rescue their friends. Happy to see his boyfriend again, Zev kisses Murphy who is taken aback by the action before leaving. Murphy's inability to recognize Zev concerns him.
Later, Murphy returns with Gabriel Santiago pretending to be his captive in order to save the people in the tavern from the Adjustors. Upon encountering Zev again who has been Adjusting Nelson, Murphy awkwardly claims that Daniel's resurrection went wrong and thus his memory is shot as an explanation for why he can't remember Zev. When the fighting breaks out, Murphy chokes Zev unconscious, apologizing as Zev seems like he's genuinely a nice guy and in Murphy's words, a good kisser too.
In Welcome to Bardo, Zev is amongst the Faithful who have taken over the tavern when John Murphy, once again posing as Daniel Lee, enters to convince the Faithful to stop their self-immolation plan in order to force the release of Russell Lightbourne. After Murphy becomes enraged and tries to rescue the children the Faithful are planning to sacrifice, Zev realizes that Murphy isn't his boyfriend from "Daniel's" inability to recognize Zev and his behavior. Zev locks the tavern door and Murphy, recognizing the man, quips that Zev is probably wondering why he never called. Zev reveals Murphy's deception to the others and when Murphy fails Trey's test, the Faithful prepare to burn him alive.
Before things can escalate too far, Indra and Emori arrive with Sheidheda who has secretly killed Russell and taken over the Prime's body. Though Zev defends his actions due to his relationship with Daniel, the Dark Commander angrily berates Zev and briefly strangles him before being stopped by Indra. Sheidheda reaffirms Murphy and Emori's covers and Zev releases Murphy on his orders.
In The Flock, Zev is amongst the hostages taken by Nikki, Nelson, the Eligius prisoners and the Children of Gabriel. Nikki forces Murphy to admit that Zev was right and he is not Daniel who is in fact dead. Emori is forced to admit the truth too, telling the crowd that the Lee's are dead while Sheidheda mockingly admits his true identity. Zev angrily gets to his feet, announcing that the Dark Commander will die for this, but is yanked back again by a Children of Gabriel member. The situation is defused when Wonkru invade through a secret tunnel and force the prisoners and Children of Gabriel to surrender.
After the situation is resolved, Indra locks Sheidheda in with the angry Sanctumites. Visibly upset and angry, Zev rallies the crowd, stating that he was right all along that Murphy and Emori weren't their Primes but liars and manipulators instead. Alyssa confronts Zev over his words, but Zev states that they should pay for preying on their faith. As the crowd closes in on the two, Zev flings a glass at Sheidheda who easily dodges it. Mocking their faith, the Dark Commander proceeds to brutally slaughter Zev and the crowd with a candlestick.Personality[]
He seems like a calm person. While a fanatical believer in the divinity of the Primes, he is noted by John Murphy as seeming to be a nice guy. However, like all of the Faithful, he is willing to sacrifice himself and burn unbelievers. Due to his relationship with Daniel Lee, Zev is far more perceptive than the rest of the Faithful and quickly deduced that Murphy wasn't actually Daniel. His level of fanaticism was such that when Murphy and Emori revealed the truth about their identities and that the Lee's were actually dead, Zev was more focused on the betrayal and impersonation than the claim that his gods were dead, suggesting that he didn't believe them due to their history of lies.
After learning the truth, Zev completely lost his cool due to the level of betrayal that he felt and became openly violent towards Sheidheda and Alyssa who was still defending him.
Physical Appearance[]
He is of average height and slim build with brown hair and blue eyes.
Relationships[]
Daniel Lee[]
At one point they became romantically involved. Zev knew Daniel well enough to become suspicious of John Murphy's impersonation of the Prime and to ultimately figure him out. Despite Zev being a Null and an Adjustor, their relationship was open enough for Zev to kiss Murphy posing as Daniel without hesitation or anyone commenting on it. After Murphy and Emori are forced to reveal the truth, Zev is more angry about their lies than the fact that his lover is dead, suggesting that he may not actually believe that they are anything but imposters and as such doesn't believe that Daniel and Kaylee are actually in fact dead.
John Murphy[]
- "So we meet again. Bet you're wondering why I never called."
- - John Murphy upon meeting Zev again[src]
Zev's relationship with John Murphy is rather awkward due to the fact that Murphy is pretending to be Zev's dead boyfriend Daniel as well as Zev's fanatical belief in the Primes. After their first awkward encounter when Zev kissed Murphy, Murphy treated Zev with as much kindness as his guise would allow, offering an explanation for his lack of memory of Zev and choking Zev out rather than punching or violently attacking him. Murphy even admits that Zev seems like a nice guy despite his beliefs and goes so far as to call Zev a good kisser. However, Murphy makes no attempt to maintain any sort of a relationship with Zev in the aftermath of the Primes defeat, quipping when they meet again that Zev probably is wondering why he never called. Due to his realization that Murphy is not Daniel but an imposter, Zev tries to kill him for it before Sheidheda reaffirms Murphy's cover. When Murphy is forced to admit the truth, he specifically states that Zev was right, angering Zev about Murphy's deception and how he used the Sanctumites faith against them.
