Echo tells Bellamy her back story in season 6 episode 4 and explains that Queen Nia sent her to "Troit" for training. Even if this isn't their capital, It's definitely a place of importance to Azgade.

Subtitles state Nia brought Echo to "Troy", which could be a derivative of Detroit. That said, Grounder place names aren't always clear, e.g. Polis is Baltimore, not Annapolis or another 'polis' city.
There's a Troy, New York. Possibly that's it?
EDIT: And there's many places named "Troy" in the USA. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troy_(disambiguation)#Places
I had the impression that Azgeda was northeast, i.e. Pennsylvania, New York, Ontario – though Ohio & Michigan are both not that far off...
I edited my comment to New York. Considering that "Ontari" is named after the Canadian province of Ontario, which borders New York and Nia is named after Niagra Falls a city and landmark in both New York and Ontario.
To be fair, it was stated that Azgeda stretches for a 1000 miles and with names like Atohl (Massachusetts) Ontari (Ontiro) Nia (New Youk), this shows how vast Azgeda is and an argument can be made for Detroit too. On the map that was used in season 3, Azgeda borders Trikru/Mount Weather at the north west, which is the direction you would need to go in order to get to Detroit. I could be wrong as JR named Madi after Madison Wisconsin, the university he attended at, which is nowhere near Shallow Valley and Detroit is where he was born.
With the newest episode (ashes to ashes) troit or troy is Detroit because one of Detroit's most noticeable buildings the RenCen can be seen in the background in echo's flashback.
