The second season of The 100 premiered on October 22, 2014, on The CW and concluded on March 11, 2015, after sixteen episodes. It took place immediately after where the previous season left off.

The second season was announced on May 8, 2014. It was three episodes longer than previous season, featured a new Title Sequence, and was met with more favorable reviews, holding a rating of 100% with professional reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes.[1]

The season was internationally syndicated. The complete season set is available on DVD and Blu-ray in all regions as of October 14, 2015. The episodes are also available through digital retailers such as Netflix,[2], Apple's iTunes Store,[3] Microsoft's Xbox Live Marketplace,[4] and Amazon.com's on-demand TV service.[5]

Synopsis

The epic second season picks up with the group still scattered and desperate to be reunited. As members of The 100 and new arrivals from the Ark stake out their place in a dangerous and beautiful new world, they are confronted with the physical peril and moral dilemmas that come with reforging society. What kind of life will they build? And what will it cost them? This season's quest will challenge them more than anything that's come before. Hearts will be broken. Lives will be lost. Heroes will be born.[6]

Notes and Trivia

  • David J. Peterson, who also developed the Game of Thrones Dothraki language, created the Grounder language that is featured this season.[7]
  • At the start of filming for Season Two, Eliza Taylor was injured on set.
  • Season Two had a fall premiere, as opposed to the mid-season premiere of Season One. This allowed two natural breaks for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  • This season was about reunions.
  • After the finale, there were 46 Delinquents remaining.
    • Eight Delinquents died during Season Two.
  • In the show, this season started on October 12, 2149, immediately after Season One ended. It ended on November 3, 2149.
    • The events that occurred in this season took place over 21 days.
  • On July 25, 2014, during the Comic-Con 2014 panel, it was announced that Lindsey Morgan and Ricky Whittle were promoted to series regular.[8]
  • Clarke Griffin, Bellamy Blake and Octavia Blake are the only characters that appears in every episode.
