Revision as of 19:27, 18 October 2019

Season Six of The 100 consisted of 13 episodes.[1] It premiered on April 30, 2019 and concluded on August 6, 2019.[2] The renewal was announced on May 7, 2018.[3] Filming began on August 27, 2018 and wrapped up on February 8, 2019.[4]

Synopsis

For five seasons our heroes did whatever it took to survive on Earth...and nothing worked. Earth was unsurvivable, lost to them forever. What was not lost: hope. After 125 years in cryosleep, traveling through the stars, our heroes woke up to a new home, a final gift from some dearly-departed friends. A place where they can try again. They're given one simple task: do better, be the good guys. With this credo in mind, Clarke and Bellamy lead a group down onto this mysterious world, hoping to start anew, to finally find peace. But old habits die hard and when they stumble across an idyllic society, it quickly becomes clear that not everything on Sanctum is as perfect as it seems. Despite their determination to do better, threats both seen and unseen will once again force our heroes to fight for their lives and the future of humanity. [5]

The cast did not attend San Diego Comic-Con to promote the sixth season, unlike the previous five years. However, the episode "The Dark Year" was shown at a special WB comic-con screening event, six days ahead of its airdate.[6][7] Also, Bob Morley and Eliza Taylor attended Comic-Con for TV Guide Magazine's Fan Favorites.[8]

Notes and Trivia

Production Notes:

  • On May 7, 2018, The 100 was renewed for a sixth season.[3] The CW President, Mark Pedowitz, said that season 6 probably wouldn't be the last.[9]
  • The writers started working on the season on May 21, 2018 and ended on December 21, 2018.[10] [11] Filming began on August 27, 2018 and wrapped up on February 8, 2019.[12]
  • Aaron Ginsburg, Terri Hughes Burton, Justine Juel Gillmer, Julie Benson, Shawna Benson, Lauren Muir, Heidi Cole McAdams were not writing or producing this season.[citation needed]
  • Kim Shumway rejoined the writing team.[13]
  • Bob Morley directed the eleventh episode of the season,[14] which started filming on January 8, 2019,[15] then wrapped up on January 18, 2019.[16]
  • Ed Fraiman returned. He was "Co-Executive Producer" and directed the season premiere and season finale.
  • P.J. Pesce[17], April Mullen[18], Marshall Virtue[19] and Amanda Tapping[20] directed some episodes of the season.
  • Production was delayed for one week due to Bob Morley's knee surgery.[21]
  • Jason Rothenberg posted the Title Sequence for the season on his Twitter account on April 3, 2019. The new opening revealed that Shannon Kook is a series regular in the sixth season. This is the latest into a season's production that a new series regular was announced, with four weeks remaining until the premiere.
    • This also makes this the first season to have fewer than ten series regulars, with only nine.
  • There were several flashbacks over the course of 236 year history of the Primes.

Plot and Character Notes:

  • The season will be a very, very different.[22] It will be about trying to be good guys, but there will still be "lots of conflict".[14]
    • Cast members at Unity Day 2019 said that this season is like a new "book".[23]
    • The cast think that nobody including themselves are ready for this season.[24]
  • The season picks up right where season 5 left off.[14] Everyone who survived season 5 finale would still be alive at the beginning of season 6.[22]
  • Jason Rothenberg stated there will be a new planet and aliens will be introduced.[25] Eliza Taylor said there will be a lot of foreign elements and "weird stuff going on" on the new planet.[14]
  • The first few episodes will be heavily focused on the main characters.[14] Rothenberg states that at first we will see the world from the perspective of our heroes but later begin to see it from the perspective of the inhabitants.[26]
  • Rothenberg said that we would learn more about Eligius III.[27]
  • Clarke Griffin and Bellamy Blake will be working together again this season.[14] They will have to decide who they would wake up from cryosleep and break the news.[22]
  • Rothenberg stated that "Eliza Taylor [who plays Clarke] is going to be challenged as an actress".[28] Taylor stated Clarke will change a lot this season,[14] and she wants Clarke to laugh this season.[29] According to Lola Flanery and Sachin Sahel, Clarke will blow us away this season.[30]
  • According to Bob Morley, it's going to take a lot for Bellamy and Octavia to get back to the place where they see each other as brother and sister.[31]
  • Jordan Green will be important and we will learn more about him in this season.[22]
  • Rothenberg stated that Christopher Larkin and Chelsey Reist will possibly return for flashbacks, because Monty Green might have left out some of videos that Clarke and Bellamy watched in the season 5 finale.[32]
  • Rothenberg hinted that Madi will be working to master the Flame.[14]
  • We will learn more about Echo's backstory and understanding where she came from.[14]
  • Chris Browning (Jake Griffin) will return.
  • The new planet's inhabitants won't meet our heroes right away, it will take a while since our heroes will have to work out their stuff first.[14]
    • On September 21, 2018, it was announced that JR Bourne was cast as the new character named Russell, who will have a complicated relationship with Clarke.[33]
    • On November 9, 2018, it was announced that Greyston Holt was cast as the new character whose name has not yet been revealed. However in 6x08 it was revealed that he would play Marcus Kane.[34] This announcement may have also been a reference to his playing Kane's host Gavin.
  • Due to Bob Morley's knee surgery, some of Bellamy's scenes at beginning of season 6 had to be changed to Bellamy sitting down. Stunt doubles were used for walking and running scenes.[21]
  • There will be more Jackson this season.[35]
  • Bellamy won't be getting a wardrobe change this season, but some other characters will have some major costume changes.[36]
  • Just like Season Three, Clarke is the only main character seen in Season 6 poster.
    • Clarke appearing twice on the poster in a mirror image is likely foreshadowing her becoming a host for Josephine Lightbourne.
  • This is the second season that does not include a two-part episode. The first was Season Four.
  • In the form of flashbacks and hallucinations, deceased characters Jake Griffin, Maya Vie, A.L.I.E., Monty Green, Charles Pike and Queen Nia reappear in Season Six in new scenes for the characters.
  • Megan Danso, who played Juel in Season Three, plays the separate recurring character of Layla starting in "Ashes to Ashes."
  • Bellamy Blake and Octavia Blake are the only main characters that appear in every episode.
  • This season has the lowest number of deaths in the series with amounts 60-70 or more deaths. The highest is Season Three.
