There are many science and technology that are introduced to the show.

Science

Algae

Main article: Algae

Algae is an informal term for a large and diverse group of photosynthetic eukaryotic organisms.

EMP

An EMP, or an electromagnetic pulse, is a burst of electromagnetic energy capable of frying electrical technology depending on the strength of the pulse. One source of an EMP is a nuclear blast of which an EMP is a secondary effect.

In Season Three, Raven Reyes worked on building an EMP device to remove the City of Light chip and free those under A.L.I.E.'s control. After Raven fell fully under the AI's control, Jacapo Sinclair finished Raven's device in "Nevermore." The device included one of the Delinquent's wristbands, an electromagnet from their dropship and was powered by the rover battery. The EMP fried the chip and freed Raven from A.L.I.E.'s control, liquifying the chip. The liquified chip then had to be removed to fully free Raven who, under A.L.I.E.'s control, claimed that the EMP could give her brain damage.

In "Perverse Instantiation (Part 1)," Clarke brought a more scaled-down and portable version of the device to Polis to free Ontari so that she could use the Flame to destroy A.L.I.E. This device only had enough charge for one EMP and included an attachment to immediately remove the liquified chip. In "Perverse Instantiation (Part 2)," after Ontari was rendered brain dead, Clarke instead used the device to free Abby so that she could help Clarke set up an exchange transfusion with Ontari, giving Clarke Nightblood temporarily and thus the ability to use the Flame.

In Season Four, Raven learned that her increased intelligence came from part of A.L.I.E.'s code remaining in her head after the EMP which had increasingly negative effects on her health. In "The Other Side," Raven compared the effects of the EMP to shutting a computer down by pulling the plug which left residual code behind as a result. Sinclair helped Raven purge the residual code and end the negative effects through Raven "resetting" herself using a near-death experience. As mentioned in "The Blood of Sanctum," Raven retained the hacking skills she gained even with the last of the code purged from her mind.

In "Nevermind," Clarke learned from a manifestation of A.L.I.E. that she had survived a mind wipe thanks to a neural mesh she'd gained when Clarke had taken the chip to enter the City of Light. However, A.L.I.E. warned that an EMP used to remove the chip from Clarke's head would destroy the neural mesh and render Clarke vulnerable again. A.L.I.E. helped Clarke to protect the memory of using an EMP on Raven, but Clarke later gave it to Josephine Lightbourne. In "The Old Man and the Anomaly," Josephine plotted to use an EMP to get rid of Clarke for good and enlisted the help of Murphy, Emori and Ryker Desai to build one. Instead, the group used the EMP device to temporarily take down Sanctum's radiation shield so that Bellamy could take Josephine to Gabriel Santiago.

After Abby was mind wiped and made into the host of Simone Lightbourne, Clarke expressed hope in "The Blood of Sanctum" that Abby's neural mesh had allowed her to survive. However, Russell Lightbourne had confirmed that the EMP Clarke used on Abby had in fact destroyed the neural mesh before he implanted Simone.

In "The Last War," Jordan Green uses an EMP device to disable the cloaks and weapons of the Disciples.

Embryos

When Mission Team Alpha landed on Sanctum, they brought a thousand embryos with them. These embryos were genetically engineered with Nightblood to protect against solar radiation. After some of the team members were killed, Russell Lightbourne and Gabriel Santiago decided to use some of the embryos to breed humans with Nightblood as test subjects. The embryos are fully grown into adult humans in incubators. After the other test subjects failed, the first successful test subject was an Earth embryo 47, named Brooke. After the Primes were "reincarnated" into the bodies of the fully grown embryos with Nightblood, they've grown more embryos to increase the population of Sanctum. The embryos are ancestors of the Sanctumites. Gabriel reveals that many years later, he destroyed the remaining Nightblood embryos in an attempt to stop the resurrections which led to him becoming a fugitive of the Primes.

In "Sanctum", and "The Blood of Sanctum", after it was mentioned that the Eligius III went to drop each mission team on five habitable worlds, it was possibly suggested that the other mission teams also each brought a thousand embryos with them to start new colonies on each, different habitable worlds. As revealed in "The Garden," Mission Team Beta's ship crashed on Skyring, killing all but Doctor Colin Benson and preventing the start of a colony there. Presumably the embryos, if the team had any, were destroyed in the crash or abandoned by Colin who was a quantum physicist and had no way of starting the colony on his own.

In "The Flock", it's revealed that the Disciples, instead of having parents, use embryos grown in gestational tanks to make children. Their system allows them to fix flaws in the children as they mature so they are born perfect. According to Anders, the Disciples can monitor the embryos and the Extracorporeal Gestational Systems for birth defects and correct them before they are born. This includes surgically correcting the embryos of heart defects.

Hydrazine

It's highly unstable in its nonsolid form and appears dark pink in color. The Delinquents scavenged some from the crashed Exodus ship, then later used a supply under the original dropship. Clarke, Bellamy, and Roan were delivering some Hydrazine to fuel the Rocket on Becca's Island. After Spacekru went up to the Go-Sci Ring, they had less Hydrazine to get back to the ground, leaving them stranded in space, but when Eligius IV arrived in Earth's orbit, they traveled to the mothership and got the Hydrazine there.

Hythylodium

The screen shows that the tanks are full of Hythylodium

Hythylodium is an incredibly efficient energy source that was first discovered on an asteroid called "Proxima VI." Hythylodium was used to power the Eligius III and IV missions. The toxicity of the Hythylodium caused the lung disease that a large amount of prisoners suffered from. However, Abby Griffin was able to create a medical treatment in "How We Get to Peace" using sound waves with the help of Raven Reyes. It must be a radioactive-like element as Miles Shaw talked about its half-life in "Damocles (Part 2)". It was weaponized as the bomb used in the Damocles Event, which made Earth unable to support human life for the foreseeable future.

Hydroponic Farms

The Hydrofarm is a subset of hydroculture, which is a method of growing plants without soil by using mineral nutrient solutions in a water solvent. There was a hydrofarm in the Second Dawn Bunker. During the time in the bunker, Kara Cooper told Octavia that a fungus started eating the soybeans. Cooper managed to remove a few healthy plants away from the fungus to prevent the beans from vanishing. It would take a year before the fungus, and the healthy plants regrowed to an fair amount for the population in the bunker. After the arrival of Monty Green, he was able to figure out a way to repair the farm using his algae which impressed Cooper when Monty showed it to her in "How We Get to Peace" before Cooper's death. In "The Warriors Will," Monty and Harper interrupt the fight. Monty is seen carrying a flowering plant. He says the farm is working again, due to his algae. Everyone starts cheering Monty and saying "Nou Blodreina nowe!" ("Red Queen no more!") Octavia slips away from the chaos. Soon the fire alarm starts blaring. When Monty, Harper and Indra check the Hydrofarm, she sees Octavia standing in front of the doorway, watching it burn. Indra tells them that she took away the choice. In "A Sort of Homecoming," after returning to the bunker, Gaia reveals that there is nothing left in the hydrofarm and the fire took out the entire level.

There was also a hydrofarm on the Ark, in a station called "Agro" or "Farm" station. Kara Cooper was said to be a 3rd generation farm manager on the Ark. Mount Weather also had a hydrofarm that produced food for its inhabitants.

Mindspace

The Mindspace happens when the brain creates these constructs when two minds share a body. It's a self preservation, trying to keep the minds separate so the body doesn't die. As seen with Clarke Griffin and Josephine Lightbourne, the two minds can interact within the Mindspace, but risk merging as a result. They can also kill each other. However, while a Prime's Mind Drive backs up their mind and effectively resurrects them, the host's death in the Mindspace would be permanent. After the barrier between their minds disappears, the Mindspaces of Josephine and Clarke becomes combined. As a result, their minds are far more vulnerable to each other within the Mindspace with Clarke able to erase some of Josephine's memories by floating them using her Mindspace's airlock. Projections of various memories began appearing within the Mindspace and Josephine was able to take an axe from one of her memories into the Mindspace while Clarke could make a gun appear. After Clarke floated a lot of memories, the Mindspaces became separate once again, but combined again after Josephine used the neural mesh to prevent being removed with her Mind Drive. While originally killing one of the minds inside the Mindspace caused no permanent harm to Josephine while the barrier between the minds still existed, particularly while the Mind Drive was still implanted, this protection disappeared once the Mindspaces became combined. As a result, Clarke was able to destroy Josephine's consciousness for good by shattering her projection in the Mindspace with an axe.

In "From the Ashes," after Sheidheda downloads himself into Russell Lightbourne's Mind Drive, the two appear in a Mindspace of Sheidheda's design after Clarke knocks Russell unconscious. Sheidheda kills Russell in the Mindspace and effectively resurrects himself by taking control of Russell's body once his mind is destroyed.

In "A Little Sacrifice," Sheidheda calls the location where he and Madi met and communicated through the Flame her Mindspace.

In "The Last War," after John Murphy puts Emori's Mind Drive into his head, they meet in a Mindspace that takes the form of a bedroom overlooking the Dead Zone on Earth where they first met. Murphy comments that he would've chosen their cave, suggesting that the form the Mindspace takes is Emori's choice. The two remain in the Mindspace until they Transcend.

Neural Mesh

The Neural Mesh is an artificial barrier that was created in Clarke's mind, due to her experiences with A.L.I.E., when she took the chip to enter the City of Light. It prevented Clarke's consciousness from being erased by the drug used by the Primes so they can implant Josephine Lightbourne's Mind Drive into her. The neural mesh protected Clarke's mind and kept her alive. However, it remains reliant on the chip remaining in Clarke's head and if it is removed with an EMP as Clarke once did to free Raven Reyes and her mother, the neural mesh will be gone and Clarke will be vulnerable to having her mind erased. When Gabriel Santiago removes Josephine's Mind Drive, Josephine's mind is able to remain in Clarke's body by latching onto the neural mesh as well. However, their minds having combined allows Clarke to destroy Josephine for good. Its subsequently confirmed that nothing remains of Josephine on the Mind Drive. Clarke later poses as Josephine claiming to have been the one to win the battle, but as a result of using the neural mesh, is no longer effectively immortal until "she" gets a new Mind Drive. After her mother is turned into a host for Simone Lightbourne, Clarke is hopeful that Abby also survived due to a neural mesh. However, Russell Lightbourne tells her that he checked before implanting Simone and confirms that the EMP did destroy Abby's neural mesh and she is gone.

Nightblood (Serum)

Main article: Nightblood

"Nightblood", originally called "Black Blood", is an experimental serum created by Becca Franko. According to the records, she first developed it for the Eligius Mining Company to protect against solar radiation for long duration space missions. She later used the serum to help the human body not reject the A.L.I.E. 2.0, protecting the body against radiation emitted from the device. In addition, it also helps the human body metabolize nuclear radiation. Becca made the cells combine by experimenting in space with perfluorochemicals and oxygenators, the building block of artificial blood. The serum genetically modifies the user's DNA and causes them to have black blood. The term "Nightblood" is also used to refer to people who have been injected with the serum or who have inherited the genetic modifications causing the black blood.

In "Anaconda," its revealed that the name "Nightblood" was chosen by August. If Becca had a specific name for it, she never mentioned what it was and was only ever seen referring to Nightblood as "the blood alteration," something that both Nikki and Hatch also called it and "radiation immunity." The serum is shown to be capable of saving the life of someone who has already been exposed to a lethal amount of radiation. When Callie Cadogan learned of Nightblood, she injected herself and a group of like-minded individuals with it to retake the surface of the Earth two years after the Nuclear Apocalypse. They brought with them enough of the serum to save 2,000 more people when they found them.

Bone Marrow Transplantation

The Bone Marrow Transplantation is a procedure in which a bone marrow is removed from one body and placed in the body of a recipient. The Mountain Men, led by President Cage Wallace, used the Delinquents for Bone Marrow Transplantation as part of the Harvest Project to make them immune to radiation, in order to walk outside on the ground. In the wake of the Praimfaya, Abby and Jackson begin using a Nightblood named Luna for Bone Marrow Transplantation in attempt to create more Nightblood serum to survive the Second Nuclear Apocalypse. Clarke Griffin became the first Sky Person to become a Nightblood, though the effectiveness remained untested and unconfirmed until Clarke survived Praimfaya because of her Nightblood. In the year 2181, Russell Lightbourne and the other Primes tried to do bone marrow transplantation to recreate Nightblood, but it failed, due to not knowing the formula. Many years later, in 2281, to avoid being executed, Clarke's friends convinces Russell to spare them so that they will use the Bone Marrow Transplantation to create more Nightblood to resurrect the Primes. Russell then agrees. As the procedure continues, they begin using Madi Griffin as a Nightblood donor to create more serum. Echo becomes the first red-blooded Grounder to become a Nightblood. Abby injected herself with Nightblood to become a donor to protect Madi. John Murphy and Emori both became two Nightbloods while posing as Kaylee Lee and Daniel Lee.

Red Sun Toxin

Main article: Red Sun Eclipse

The Red Sun Toxin is a dangerous toxin that is released from the plants and trees into the air on Sanctum, during the Red Sun Eclipse.

Anti-Toxin

The Anti-Toxin was created by Gabriel Santiago in case of the Red Sun toxin.

Thought Control

Thought Control is used on a technologically advanced helmet, used by the Disciples.

Star Map

The Star Map is a space map used in the helmet by the Disciples. The Star Map shows the location of only six different worlds, which are connected by the Bridge. It also contains codes for deactivating and reactivating Anomaly Stones. However, it displays Earth as being off-line and doesn't give the code needed to travel to that particular planet.

Time Dilation

Time Dilation is a difference in the elapsed time measured by two clocks, either due to them having a velocity relative to each other, or by there being a gravitational potential difference between their locations.

Radiation

Radiation is the emission or transmission of energy in the form of waves or particles through space or through a material medium. This form of energy is deadly. The only way to survive exposure to lethal levels of radiation is Nightblood which will help the person to metabolize the radiation.

Technology

Defibrillator

A Defibrillator is a portable medical device use to shock a person's heart usually when they've gone into cardiac arrest to save their life. The rocket in Becca's lab had one in its portable med kit.

In "The Other Side," Raven retrieves the defibrillator from the med kit as part of her plan to purge A.L.I.E.'s residual code by "rebooting" her brain. Raven tells her hallucination of Jacapo Sinclair that she has calibrated the shock that will be given to restart her heart based on the defibrillator from the rocket. Sinclair reminds Raven that with her heart murmur, she may go into cardiac arrest from shocking her heart in such a way and will have to deliver another shock to restore a normal rhythm. Sure enough, after Raven is revived, she begins going into cardiac arrest, but manages to reach the defibrillator in time to shock herself again, returning her heartbeat to normal.

In "The Last War," Raven uses a defibrillator to revive Emori.

Flares

Flares used by the Delinquents to signal The Ark, burned down a Grounder village and started the war with the Grounders. These flares are really rockets from Raven's escape pod repurposed as a signal rather than actual flares.

In "Sanctum", a group consisting of Jackson, Murphy, Clarke, Bellamy, Echo, Shaw and Emori use flares to fend off the insects on the new habitable world. Soon after they cross the radiation shield, they are safe from the alien insects, their flares burn out.

Cryopods

A Cryopod is a stasis chamber that puts a person into a suspended animation called "Cryosleep", by using cryonics to prevent aging, during space travel.

On Eligius IV, the prisoners and crew members were put into cryosleep to travel to the asteroid Proxima 6. The survivors from the Damocles Event used the cryopods to be put into cryosleep for 125 years until they were sent to the new habitable world.

Simone mentions that the amount of cryopods on Eligius III was smaller compared to the tank on Eligius IV.

In "The Queen's Gambit," it's revealed that Bill Cadogan has been kept in a cryopod on Bardo with his name and the Second Dawn symbol. He is awakened by Anders after the arrival of Clarke Griffin.

Sonic Drill

The Sonic Drill is a mining tool used to break rocks and minerals, during the mining operation in space. These are also used as weapons.

Lasercom

Laser Communications or Lasercom was used for long distance space communication. After the Second Nuclear Apocalypse, radio waves were blocked by residual radiation on the Earth, but Lasercom could still be used since it was designed to cut through worse atmospheric conditions.

Radiation Chamber

The Radiation Chamber is a machine that Becca conducted her research on, in an effort to find a cure for cancer. Abigail Griffin and Eric Jackson also used it.

Shock Collar

Main article: Shock Collar

The Shock Collars, also known as the Pulse Collars, are electrical collars used by the Eligius Corporation to control prisoners. After the prisoners' successful coup, they use it on people they can't trust and for torture.

During Season Five, Michael Vinson was considered so dangerous by the prisoners that they kept a shock collar on him at all times. In "Damocles (Part 1)," after Vinson attacked Marcus Kane and severely wounded him, Abigail Griffin used the collar to kill Vinson with a fatal shock. In "Damocles (Part 2)," Raven Reyes grabbed onto Paxton McCreary when Clarke activated her collar, transferring the shock to McCreary and stunning him.

In "Nevermind," Clarke, with the help of a projection of Maya Vie, places a shock collar onto Josephine Lightbourne within her Mindspace in order to trap Josephine within a cave in one of her memories. However, Josephine purposefully activates the collar to fry her as Josephine's Mind Drive can reboot her.

In "The Old Man and the Anomaly," a shock collar was planned to be used as part of an EMP device, replacing the Delinquents' wristband used in the original version created by Raven and Jacapo Sinclair. However, as the device was later used to disable the radiation shield temporarily, it is unclear if the shock collar was ever actually incorporated into the device.

Rock Crusher

The Rock Crusher was used by the Eligius Corporation, during the mining operation. In Damocles (Part 2), McCreary used the Rock Crusher to torture Shaw, to get Raven to fly the ship. ^[1]

Radiation Shield

The Radiation Shield is a defense technology that is used to protect the settlement on Alpha. It is powered, along with everything else in Sanctum, by the reactor in the basement of the machine shop, the place where Ryker and Priya lived.

Shooting a flare gun at the barrier or using EMP on the tower takes it temporarily down. It was created by Ryker Desai. Anyone who does not have Nightblood cannot safely pass through the shield without it being deactivated first.

In "Adjustment Protocol," the shield is lowered by Priya Desai by powering down the nuclear reactor so that the Children of Gabriel can infiltrate the settlement.

In "Blood Giant," during a Red Sun Eclipse, Emori purposefully lowers the shield to use the attacking bugs as a weapon against the attacking Knight and his two Wonkru men. As a result, the bugs kill the three men before being driven off by Clarke, Raven, Bellamy and the Disciples. Raven subsequently raises the shield again, keeping out the other bugs. Bellamy states that the bugs that got in will eventually turn on and kill each other.

Memory Drives

Main article: Mind Drive

The Memory Drive is a memory storage and a cybernetic implant, created by Becca Franko and was the precursor to A.L.I.E. 2.0. She provided the implants to the Eligius III Exploration Team in order to log and save their memories as they explored the new world. These technologies were used to keep the log of their findings. Gabriel Santiago has reversed-engineered thirteen Memory Drives in order to upload an entire mind, thus creating a new implant technology, known as the Mind Drive. The Memory Drives are the predecessors to the Mind Drives.

According to Russell Lightbourne, each mission team on five different habitable worlds that the Eligius III went to have Memory Drives.

In "The Garden," Gabriel recovers the Memory Drive from the corpse of Doctor Colin Benson of Mission Team Beta and compares the original Memory Drives to a plane's black box in conversation. By plugging the Drive into his computer tablet, Gabriel is able to view Colin's memories with the computer automatically correcting corruption in the files. However, the computer appears to have been unable to correct everything as the recording is still somewhat glitchy in playback. The first memory on the Drive is Colin waking up after the implantation to Becca Franco greeting him. By reviewing the memories stored on the Drive, Gabriel is able to learn the fates of Mission Team Beta and Colin's work on deciphering the Anomaly Stone on Skyring.

Memory Viewer

The Memory Viewer is a tablet computer that connects the Memory Drive to view the person's memories and can at least partially repair corrupted files on the Drive. It can also be used with a Mind Drive to determine if the Mind Drive is blank or not. In "Blood Giant," a hallucination of Josephine Lightbourne calls it an Etch-a-Sketch while arguing with Gabriel Santiago over the things that he had accomplished using the Mind Drive technology.

Nuclear Reactor

7x03 ReactorTerminal — The nuclear reactor.

A Nuclear Reactor is a power source run on nuclear fuel, usually uranium or plutonium. It is highly radioactive, making it incredibly dangerous to the environment if the reactor melts down. Nuclear reactors give off gamma radiation which protective gear is useless at shielding against.

In "Perverse Instantiation (Part 2)," A.L.I.E. reveals to Clarke Griffin that the remaining nuclear power plants -- which use nuclear reactors for their power -- have begun to melt down and will render the Earth uninhabitable for five years within six months. In Season Four, Raven reveals that, after the Second Fukushima Disaster, Panacea Power patented a fail-safe system with multiple redundancies to build nuclear reactors. By 2048, two dozen mega reactors were built to withstand any disaster, even a nuclear attack." However, "the plants were built to be self-sustaining for [only] a hundred years." After the first Nuclear Apocalypse, which occurred in 2052, no one maintained the power plants, so by 2150, the plants started to melt down, which forces the human race to begin searching for a way to survive this Second Nuclear Apocalypse which ultimately turns the Earth into a barren radioactive wasteland in "Praimfaya" aside from a single surviving valley.

In "False Gods," its mentioned that the Ark is powered by a nuclear reactor, presumably located on the Go-Sci Ring. Jacapo Sinclair is stated to have been a genius at jury-rigging the reactor while Raven Reyes taught Emori how to help her perform maintenance on it during Spacekru's six years on the Ring.

In Season Six, its revealed that Sanctum is powered by a nuclear reactor beneath the machine shop which is maintained by Priya and Ryker Desai. In "Adjustment Protocol," Clarke forces Priya to shut down the reactor in order to bring down Sanctum's radiation shield. After the defeat of the Primes, the duty of maintaining Sanctum's nuclear reactor falls to Raven and James Crockett who deal with various issues that crop with the aging reactor.

In "False Gods," while moving a control rod, James accidentally triggers a nuclear meltdown by leaving his wrench under the rod, preventing it from descending properly. The radiation exposure kills James and his girlfriend Cora almost instantly which is discovered by Raven and Emori when they investigate the power issues the impending meltdown causes. In addition, it causes two cracks to open in the cooling system. To fix the reactor, Raven enlists the help of Hatch and three other Eligius prisoners to fix the cooling system while John Murphy and Emori, protected by their Nightblood, fix the reactor core itself. Emori manages to fix the core, though she suffers negative effects from her radiation exposure while the Eligius prisoners begin to succumb to the higher than expected radiation levels. Raven, unwilling to trust the prisoners to do the right thing, lies to them about the source of their symptoms and locks Murphy in the secondary containment chamber with them to help. At the last possible second, Murphy and Hatch manage to repair the cooling system and avert the meltdown, but all of the prisoners die of radiation poisoning in the process. Though they become ill as well, Murphy and Emori's Nightblood allows them to recover.

Cloaking device

In "From the Ashes," the Disciples from Bardo use a cloaking device to make themselves invisible. The cloak is not perfect as the movement of the people disturbed the particulates in the air, revealing their location. The Disciples are shown to refer to the cloak as "going ghost." On their HUD while its active, the display calls it Spectral Cloaking.

Locator tag

Locator tags are technology that are injected into a person, so it can pull them through the Anomaly. It appears to be a more extreme version of the Nano-Tracking Program used by the Disciples, taking the form of a blade rather than pills. Once the person is stabbed, they vanish through the Anomaly moments later. However, the blade must be stabbed in deep to ensure that the person gets there in one piece. A single blade can be used multiple times, suggesting that it contains more than one locator tag.

In "The Blood of Sanctum," Hope Diyoza stabs Octavia Blake with a blade, injecting her with a locator tag and sending her to Bardo. As Octavia's friends don't understand what Hope has done, they simply think that she's been stabbed.

In "The Garden," Hope reveals that Octavia is still alive and explains that she injected her with a locator tag.

In "Welcome to Bardo," Anders provides Hope with the locator tag in a flashback and explains what it is and does when she threatens him with it. After being pulled to Sanctum, Hope stabs Octavia with it and she is transported to Bardo. With Octavia bleeding from the stabbing, she is taken to be treated before being returned to M-Cap.

In "A Sort of Homecoming," the Disciples provide Sheidheda with both nano-tags and a locator tag blade to send Madi Griffin to Bardo if she refuses to go willingly. After being defeated by Indra and Gaia, the Dark Commander injects himself with a locator tag in order to escape, dropping the blade afterwards. With Clarke refusing to let her use the nano-tags, Madi recovers the blade and uses the locator tag to send herself to Bardo before her horrified friends and family.

Disciples' helmets and suits

The helmets and suits, worn by the Disciples, protects them from memory loss caused by the effects of the Anomaly. The helmets and suits are highly advanced technologies. The helmets contain a star map revealing the six planets connected to the Anomaly network and the codes for each planet.

Whilst wearing the helmet, one can access information stored about particular people and objects. This allows the helmet-wearer to identify individuals they come in contact with, as well as information about objects, distance for travelling, and the location of the Anomaly Stone. When impaired by damage, the helmet can have trouble displaying information or pinpointing the exact location of an Anomaly Stone. The helmets can act independently of the suits, displaying information to a wearer who is only wearing the helmet and protecting memories without the need for a full suit.

Timer implant

The timer was implanted inside the arms of the prisoners, who were sent to Skyring by the Disciples to be imprisoned, was to see how long they could stay on the planet as punishment.

Memory Capture

The Memory Capture, also known as M-Cap, is a Disciple technology, mentioned by Hope Diyoza and Captain Meredith. It apparently is used by the Disciples to forcibly extract memories from people. According to Hope, it is only a form of torture if the person fights against it. Levitt states that by focusing on one thought, such as the mantra "I am not afraid," the person hooked up to the device can resist it without suffering any negative effects.

In "Etherea," it is used to treat a Disciple for PTSD.

In "The Dying of the Light," using M-Cap to dig deeper into Madi Griffin's cerebral cortex causes her to suffer a massive stroke at her brainstem. As a result, the parts of Madi's brain controlling voluntary movement are destroyed, leaving her alive and conscious, but unable to ever move again. Levitt is also able to access M-Cap's records of the memories it got from Madi and learn that Bill Cadogan was able to find the final code, displaying the recorded memory for everyone to see.

Biometric Signature Scanner

The Biometric Signature Scanner is a wand-like device created by the native Bardoans to determine and record the unique biometric signature of a person. The user has to unlock it with their fingerprint on a small touchscreen and they then perform a scan of the selected person's brain through their eyes which determines their biometric signature. The user can then record the signature on the exposed skin of a chosen person with the same device. According to Levitt, the Bardoans used it to retrieve people who got stuck in the Temporal Anomaly while, for the Disciples, it only worked eight times out of ten, causing them to eventually abandon use of the device. By using the code recorded by the scanner, a person could remotely pull another person through the Anomaly by entering the code into the Anomaly Stone.

In "Welcome to Bardo," Levitt used the scanner to determine Hope Diyoza's code and to then record it on Octavia Blake's back so that she could pull Hope through the Anomaly to Sanctum at a later time, though Octavia losing her memory by traveling back through the Anomaly to Sanctum would hinder this. In "The Blood of Sanctum," Hope's code was discovered on Octavia's back by Gabriel Santiago who recognized its connection to the Anomaly Stone and helped her enter it despite them not understanding what it was for.

Digital Glasses

The Digital Glasses are high-tech glasses used by the Disciples. They can control at least some of the systems in the Disciples' facility as Levitt used them to shut off the biohazard alarm that Hope Diyoza had purposefully tripped. They can also detect which planet an Anomaly transport is coming from.

Hologram

A hologram is a physical recording of an interference pattern which uses diffraction to reproduce a three-dimensional light field, resulting in an image which retains the depth, parallax, and other properties of the original scene.

The Rebreathers are masks used to keep a person safe from inhaling a toxic air.

Virtual Simulation Technology

A.L.I.E. used simulation technology to create a virtual reality known as the City of Light.

The Disciples used their simulation technology for training tests.

Nano-Tracking Program

The Nano-Tracking Program, also known as the Nano-Tags, is a technology that teleports a person to another planet, using a less extreme version of the locator tag technology. However, it requires someone on the Bardo end to activate the transport once the nano-tags have been swallowed or it won't work. On the Disciple HUD, when the transport is activated, the HUD is shown to read Initiating Nanotag Extraction and displays a green line from the planet of origin to Bardo representing the Anomaly carrying the travelers.

In "A Sort of Homecoming," after arriving on Earth, Bill Cadogan uses the technology to escape back to Bardo. Later, Sheidheda shows up with two doses as a less extreme way offered by the Disciples to bring Madi Griffin back to Bardo. After being defeated, he leaves them behind and Madi is prevented from using the nano-tags to leave.

In "The Dying of the Light," Clarke Griffin and Octavia Blake swallow the nano-tags that Sheidheda had left behind, but nothing happens, causing them to realize that someone needs to activate the transport on the Bardo end. Cadogan is informed of their actions, but he simply orders the two to be left on Earth. Later, Levitt tricks a Stone Conductor into activating the transport, but as the Temporal Anomaly has been moved, Clarke and Octavia emerge from it in the oxygen farm surrounded by dozens of Disciples.
