Alpha's not a planet. It's a moon.
Jordan Green [src]

Alpha[1] is an Earth-like habitable moon. It is located in the Goldilocks zone of a binary star system, which means it is in the habitable zone and has two suns instead of one which causes high levels of radiation. However, according to Emori, she says that the radiation levels are good and also, says that Eligius III didn't need to send Nightbloods after all.

Overview

The world has vast amounts of flora, fauna, and native lifeforms.[2] There are Nightbloods as well as aliens living on the world.[3] When the two suns eclipse each other, the sky turns red and it causes psychosis.[2]. During the eclipse, sometimes happens sonic anomaly caused by molecular vibrations in the air and trees.

The atmosphere is similar to Earth's, it contains 77% of Nitrogen, 22% of Oxygen, .5% of Argon, .2% of Carbon Dioxide and a small amounts of a new unrecognized element.

History

In 2045, Eligius III arrived to this world. The Eligius Corporation was looking for a source to tap for oil, since Earth's oil reserves had ran dry. The Eligius III crew had their blood altered, i.e. given the Nightblood serum, to better withstand the two suns. According to Eligius IV's records, they never reported back or they did and it was after Apocalypse One. Either way their status is as of yet unknown.

Later, Monty Green, after many years of research, cracked the Eligius III files after 30 years on Eligius IV, he set it to travel there from its orbit around Earth. It took the ship 75 years to reach the world and when it did, Monty and Harper McIntyre’s son Jordan Green woke up from cryosleep as his father set to. He follow his father's instructions and awoke Clarke Griffin and Bellamy Blake. He went on to show his parents' friends many videos and a new world, where they can call home.

Fauna

There are at least 3 evolutionary branches: insect, rodent and reptile. And an unclassified species categorized by the colonist with name "Guaiwu" ('Freaks' in Mandarin). One of the species eats a berry that tastes like a cotton candy.

S6Titles Bug

A bug

In SanctumJackson can be seen with a native bug in a Jar. Soon after this bug is shown, a swarm of the bugs attacks and chases the exploration team through the radiation fences, into a village.

The bugs appear to be omnivores, liking to feast on meat and plants, as told by Jackson. The bugs travel in swarms when hunting. They also appear to be strong when a bug is seen hitting against a glass jar. The bugs also don't like fire.

The Bugs have "hook" like legs and round eyes such as a fly. The bugs also have a small tail and some hidden antenna.
