He is Russell Lightbourne, seventh of his line, savior of Sanctum. And you will bow before using his name.
— Russell's wife describing him.

Russell Lightbourne is a recurring character in the sixth season. He is portrayed by cast member JR Bourne and debuts in "The Children of Gabriel".

He is a charismatic leader, a visionary and pioneer, who rules over a "peaceful society" and seemed to take an interest in Clarke Griffin when they first met, as well as assuming her to be the leader of what he refers to as the earthborn.

Early life

He was born on Sanctum and inherited leadership of the moon.

Throughout the Series

In The Children of Gabriel, he is among the others who sees Clarke's group. He looks at Murphy and sees the seaweed. He tells and asks Cillian to help him. Cillian takes out a snake and revives Murphy. Then he tells his guards to lock them up.

Later, he vists them asking about their dropship's whereabouts. He says that there are people who will want the weapons onboard the ship. Russell then tells them to send their most disposable people to find the ship. Clarke tells him that no one is disposable.

Later, Deliah tells him about the radiation towers going off again and that someone is missing. Russell says that he will find them. He goes to the greenhouse to inform Cillian about the missing child. Cillian agrees to help find her. He looks at Ckarke's arm and sees that she has nightblood.

After they get the dropship back, Russell welcomes them to stay. When Madi mentions Diyoza kicking terrorists, Russell realizes that Diyoza's first name is Charmaine and she was a wanted criminal listed next to Hitler and Bin Laden in their history books. He asks his guards to escort Diyoza outside of the fences. Simone says that she hopes the trees get to her first so she can't team with the Children of Gabriel.
