“ | I deserve this throne. I was raised for it. Snatched from my parents by the Queen of Azgeda. I suffered her cruelty. I won the Conclave. The Ambassadors don't get to judge me, and neither do you. | ” |

Ontari was a recurring character during the third season. She was portrayed by actress Rhiannon Fish and debuted in Watch the Thrones.
Ontari was a Nightblood from the Ice Nation and after Lexa's death came to Polis in order to become the next Commander. However, she never won the conclave but simply killed all other Nightbloods while they were asleep. Moreover, she was missing the Flame that truly made someone a Commander.
Jaha managed to convince her to take the chip that allowed her to enter the City of Light and as a result of being controlled by A.L.I.E. she convinced most her people to also take the chip. When Clarke and the others were trying to put the Flame into her, A.L.I.E. told Jaha to kill her. The controlled Jaha then struck Ontari in the head, which rendered her brain dead.
She later died after her body was used as part of a blood transfusion directly with her heart to allow Clarke to accept the Flame.
Early Life
Ontari was born a Nightblood. When she was a child, Ontari was taken from her family by Queen Nia of Azgeda. While growing up, Ontari suffered from Nia's cruelty, which possibly led to her being loyal to her, thus making Ontari more brutal and ruthless.
Throughout the Series
In Watch the Thrones Ontari is seen standing guard in Queen Nia's chambers when Clarke enters with a proposition for the Ice Queen. Ontari becomes suspicious of Clarke's true intentions, when she wipes the blood on knife off on her sleeve, after cutting her palm to signify a blood oath between Azgeda and Skaikru. Ontari attacks Clarke and smells her sleeve. She then informs Nia that Clarke had poison on it. Nia tells Clarke that they could've been allies, but for this treachery, they are now enemies. Nia cuts Ontari's palm and spills her black blood on Clarke's face as a message to Lexa.
Later in the courtyard of Polis, Ontari stands next to Nia's throne and watches the match between Lexa and Roan. Ontari is completely shocked and surprised when Lexa throws a spear into Nia's chest and kills her.
In Stealing Fire, after Lexa is accidentally killed by Titus, Ontari sneaks into Polis the night before the contest to determine the new Commander and slaughters all the other Nightbloods in their sleep. Although she is now officially the Commander, Titus accepts Clarke's argument that she would never be chosen by the Flame, allowing Clarke to flee with the Flame and letting himself die so that he cannot be used against Clarke. Ontari is forced to make Murphy and Roan swear to keep this knowledge secret.
In Fallen, Murphy acts as a fake Flamekeeper to officially legitimize Ontari's role, helping her rehearse what she has to say in the Ascension ceremony.
In Demons, the City of Light residents learns of Ontari's deception after Murphy confides in Emori, unaware that she has been chipped. Using this knowledge, Thelonious Jaha not only has Murphy arrested, but convinces Ontari to take the chip, resulting in A.L.I.E. ascending to a position of complete control of the Sky People and the Coalition.
In Perverse Instantiation (Part 1), with all other known Nightbloods dead or unavailable, Clarke decides to take the risk of sneaking back into Polis to remove Ontari's chip, hoping that she can be persuaded to accept the Flame and use it to help them find A.L.I.E.'s kill switch. However, this plan backfires when Jasper is brought into the City of Light, with the result that the Coalition not only anticipate the plan, but Jaha strikes Ontari in the head with a pike, causing severe brain damage so that she cannot accept the chip.
In Perverse Instantiation (Part 2), Clarke, with Abby's help, used an exchange transfusion, similar to the ones done at Mount Weather, to replace her blood with Ontari's. This allowed Clarke to temporarily have the black blood and for her body to accept the Flame. However, it was only successful so long as Ontari's heart kept beating to let the blood flow into her system, requiring Abby to open Ontari's chest so that Murphy could pump her heart to keep blood flowing when her condition worsened. After A.L.I.E. is destroyed, Murphy stops pumping Ontari's heart and she dies.
In Memento Mori, Murphy tells Josephine Lightbourne about how Clarke defeated A.L.I.E., namely that Abby had him pump Ontari's heart so that Clarke could use her Nightblood. Josephine finds it "badass" but Murphy just calls it gross.
Personality
Ontari is ruthless and hostile toward her enemies, but also has a soft spot for some people, such as Murphy.
Physical Appearance
Ontari is small and average size, with long brown hair, brown eyes and scars on her face.
Relationships
Nia
Ontari was very protective of Nia and was deeply affected by her queen's death. She jumped on Clarke, putting a knife to her throat when she saw her, blaming her for Nia's death. In Fallen, Ontari says that she suffered from Nia's cruelty while growing up, which possibly led to her being loyal to Nia.
Roan
Roan was Ontari's King. She didn't agree with him on his ways of handling things and had always planned to become Commander so that he would bow to her and obey her orders.
Lexa
Ontari strongly disliked Lexa since she was the one who killed Nia. Shortly after Lexa's death, Ontari did not waste any time in claiming her throne, wanting to become the next Heda.
