Death is life
— To Sheidheda as he kills him.

Nelson (born Sachin), was a recurring character in the sixth and seventh seasons. He was portrayed by cast member Lee Majdoub and debuts in "Ashes to Ashes".

He was a member of the Children of Gabriel and leader of a unit.

In "The Stranger," Nelson is killed along with the Children of Gabriel by Sheidheda for refusing to kneel before the Dark Commander. However, one member of the Children of Gabriel survived and was taken to safety.

Early life[]

Nelson was born as Sachin on Alpha and he was a null who did not know who his parents were, due to him being thrown out from Sanctum, separating from his parents, because he was offered to the woods to be sacrificed as part of the Oblation when he was an infant, until he was rescued by the Children of Gabriel. At some point, he became an unit leader of a faction within the Children of Gabriel.

Throughout the Series[]

In Ashes to Ashes, Nelson and the other Children of Gabriel come to Gabriel's hideout where they all discover that Xavier had died 10 years ago without their knowledge to become Gabriel's host. Nelson was in disbelief of this reveal and when Gabriel confessed to killing Eduardo out of rage. However he was the only member of Gabriel's group to think rationally when Bellamy suggested with Gabriel being on their side they would have the chance to take down the Primes which Nelson agreed to. Nelson demands that Gabriel kill Josephine Lightbourne first as proof, but Josephine is already dead and its her host Clarke Griffin instead. After Nelson turns his blade on Clarke, Gabriel threatens to not create the Red Sun toxin bomb for the Children of Gabriel if Nelson harms Clarke, causing Nelson to stand down.

Later, when Sanctum guards arrive, Nelson orders Layla to guard Clarke, Octavia, Bellamy and Gabriel while he and his men fight the guards. However, while Nelson and his men are distracted, John Murphy and Jade sneak into the tent from behind to get what they believe to be Josephine. Posing as Josephine, Clarke goes with them as part of the plan, but pretends to kill Layla in order to save her life, causing Layla to realize that it really isn't Josephine that the Children of Gabriel have been dealing with.

In Adjustment Protocol, Nelson, Layla and the other Children of Gabriel follow Gabriel, Octavia and Bellamy to Sanctum's radiation shield to await Clarke taking down the shield so that they can take down the Primes. However, after learning from a guard that Russell Lightbourne intends to resurrect all of the Primes at once, Gabriel takes off on his own to stop him.

After Clarke takes down the shield by forcing Priya Desai to shut down Sanctum's nuclear reactor, Nelson leads the charge in alongside Octavia and Bellamy. The group meets up with Clarke, Echo, Gaia and Nathan Miller who are holding Priya prisoner. Clarke warns them that Russell has already prevented the evacuation and as such, they don't have a distraction anymore. Nelson becomes annoyed when Layla states that the only weapon they need is the truth, commenting that she now sounds like Gabriel. Bellamy forces Priya to reveal the truth, but Russell detonates a Red Sun toxin bomb in retaliation, turning the crowd against each other. The Children of Gabriel, Clarke and her friends quickly take the anti-toxin and Echo leads the others in running to safety in a container as the crowd targets them in order to wait out the madness.

In The Blood of Sanctum, Nelson and the others continue to take cover as the rioters bang on the door. Nelson suggests shooting their way out and making a run for it, but Bellamy refuses to leave their people behind. Before things can escalate, the Adjusters knock the group out with gas grenades and takes them to the tavern for Adjustment with the Blood of Sanctum. Nelson screams in horror when Layla is killed by Tori for refusing to take the Blood of Sanctum, but the proceedings are interrupted by Murphy and Emori posing as Daniel and Kaylee Lee. The two manage to rescue their friends, but are forced to leave Nelson behind in the tavern.

Later, as part of a plan to save the people in the tavern, Murphy returns with Gabriel as his prisoner to infiltrate the group. By this point, Nelson has already taken the Blood of Sanctum and is undergoing Adjustment from Zev when their arrival interrupts the ritual. As Tori attempts to burn down the tavern from the outside, the others subdue the people under the influence of the Red Sun toxin while Gabriel and Murphy subdue the Adjusters, saving Nelson and everyone left alive who were undergoing Adjustment.

In From the Ashes, Nelson is guarding Sanctum with other Children of Gabriel. He and his people have moved into Sanctum along with all of the other factions. However his desire to execute all the Primes has not gone yet since Russell Lightbourne is still alive. He tries to be neutral with Wonkru, but disagrees with their decision to keep Russell in prison. He and other CoG start the riots and constantly assault the True Believers which lead to the ultimatum he gives to Clarke: either Russell dies or Kaylee and Daniel die instead. Clarke then enter to Russell's room and in a fight starts a fire which burns whole castle down. She later gives a speech, saying that tomorrow Russell will "die for his mistakes" which is being loudly cheered by Nelson and others.

In Welcome to Bardo, following the aborted execution, Nelson demands to see Clarke and threatens to expose Murphy and Emori's secret. When he points out that Indra no longer has an army to stop him, she simply glares at him in an intimidating fashion until Trey and the Faithful interrupt the standoff. When one of the Faithful commits suicide by self-immolation, Nelson selflessly rushes to her aid and futilely tries to put out the flames. Suffering minor burns to his hands, Nelson is treated by Eric Jackson and is shown to be distressed by his failure to save the woman. Nelson explains that while the Faithful may hate them, they are still their people even though he was cast out. When Nelson gets testy with Emori, Murphy reminds him that without Emori, they'd all be dead right now, calming him down. Nelson accuses Russell of putting his followers up to this and simultaneously glares at him with Indra when Russell suggests that they could free him.

After Indra realizes that Russell is dead and Sheidheda has taken his place, Nelson is one of the people she calls upon for help. Nelson, Jackson and two Children of Gabriel join Indra and she orders Jackson to painfully remove Russell's Mind Drive so that Sheidheda can never be resurrected again. Pleased, Nelson proclaims "Death to Primes" and holds Sheidheda's head still during the procedure.

In Nakara, Nelson tries to approach Indra who ignores him. Not satisfied with "Russell" being unable to resurrect again, Nelson later enters his cell with the intention of killing him. The Dark Commander easily overpowers Nelson before revealing his true identity to him. Sheidheda apparently successfully entices Nelson to his side by offering to help Nelson get power. Sheidheda instructs Nelson to fitst start by making an alliance with the Eligius prisoners who have stolen Wonkru's guns.

In The Queen's Gambit, Nelson struggles with whether or not to make an alliance with Nikki while Emori tries to include him in her ceremony to reunite the Children of Gabriel with their parents. Nelson shows up to the ceremony, but while his mother is pleased to see him, Nelson's father is a fanatic and tries to strangle Nelson to death. Nelson kills his father in self-defense and joins with Nikki and the prisoners. However, Nikki stops Nelson from killing Emori, stating that they need to make demands before they can kill people.

In The Flock, Nikki demands that Murphy, "Russell" and Raven Reyes turn themselves over within twenty minutes. When Murphy arrives with Sheidheda, Nelson forces Murphy and Emori to admit the truth about the Lee family's death and watches while Sheidheda mockingly admits the truth about his own identity. Nelson stands by while Murphy attempts to talk Nikki down before Wonkru invades, killing two Children of Gabriel and one prisoner. Nelson surrenders without a fight and is imprisoned for his actions. Penn later tells Indra that Nelson didn't give him any trouble and is secure, something that Indra is pleased with.

In The Stranger, Nelson, the Children of Gabriel, Nikki and the prisoners are led into the Great Hall where Emori tells Nelson to kneel and live to fight another day. Though Nikki and the prisoners comply, Nelson refuses to, declaring his name to be Sachin and that he swore never to kneel again. Even after the Dark Commander shoots all of his people, Nelson stands his ground, accepting his fate with a yell. Sheidheda shoots Nelson in the head, killing him.

As she removes the bodies from the Great Hall, Indra respectfully closes Nelson's eyes and tells him in Trig "Your fight is over." His body is later removed from the hall, but as Indra tends to Nelson, she spots that Luca survived the massacre.

Personality[]

Nelson is shown to be fanatically loyal to his cause to destroy the Primes, willing to do anything to reach that goal. However, he is also shown to have a softer and more compassionate side, risking his life in a futile attempt to save one of the Faithful and being upset by his failure. When confronted about this, Nelson admits that however misguided the other Sanctumites are, they are still his people. At the end of his life, Nelson chooses to stand his ground even if it means his death and embraces his birth name of Sachin rather than going by Nelson, the name that had been given to him by the Children of Gabriel.
