— John to Bellamy about Octavia's rope. [src] |
John Mbege was a recurring character in the first and third seasons. He was portrayed by Aaron Miko and debuted in the series premiere. John was a member of Bellamy's militia.
John was part of the original 100. Because of his crime, John was considered "expendable" and was chosen as one of the 100 Delinquents sent down to Earth to see if it was survivable.
Early Life[]
Sometime while living on The Ark, John was arrested and sent to juvenile lockup for an unknown crime.
Throughout the Series[]
In the Pilot, John supports his friend John Murphy as he messes with Wells Jaha until Finn Collins stops them. Soon after Bellamy approaches them and gets them to become the first to remove their wristbands by telling them in return they will help him run the place. The next day John and John Murphy ambush Wells and forcefully remove his wristband themselves.
In Earth Skills, John assists Bellamy in tying Atom to a tree for the night as punishment for breaking his rules.
In Earth Kills, John is seen with Bellamy and Murphy as they practice throwing their weapons at a tree.
In Murphy's Law, when Octavia Blake tries to get Jasper Jordan to leave the camp for the first time since his recovery, John grabs her from behind a bush to scare them. He is later seen helping Murphy keep everyone working when Clarke Griffin confronts him about Wells' murder. He tries to help Murphy when the other delinquents attempt to lynch him but is held back. After Charlotte comes forward as the real murderer, John is one of the few who agree she needs to be punished and joins Murphy in search for her when Finn and Clarke help her escape. The chase eventually leads to Charlotte committing suicide and Murphy being banished. John and the others are given the choice to join Murphy in banishment or return to camp. He chooses to return to camp, abandoning his friend.
In His Sister's Keeper, when Octavia disappears John is one of the Delinquents who voluntary to help search for her. They follow the tracks of her kidnapper into Grounder territory, where he is one of the few who continue on searching. Eventually, John falls to the back of the group when a Grounder lowers himself down behind them and grabs him, pulling him back up into the trees and slitting his throat. His body is then dropped down on the others startling them.
In Contents Under Pressure, Bellamy lists him as one of the people killed or wounded by the Grounders.
In Day Trip, Nathan Miller informs Bellamy that he's told John's father about his death.
In Fog of War, he is mentioned by Bellamy briefly, warning the Ark guards to watch the trees, as that is how John died.
In Join or Die, he is brought into a room with other delinquents to be taught Earth skills by Charles Pike unknowingly that he was going to be sent to the ground. During the span of two weeks, the delinquents don't retain the information taught by Pike. During their last class, Pike begins to hit John Murphy. Mbege tries to pull Pike off but is thrown into crates. When the guards come in, Mbege and Jones stand up to Pike guarding Murphy. He is later seen being directed into the dropship which was sent to Earth with The 100.
Personality[]
John was a loyal follower of Bellamy's and in return for power, did whatever Bellamy told him. However, he was willing to go against Bellamy to support his friends, but only to a certain extent. He appeared to have an aggressive side, seen when he abused Wells with Murphy and pursued Charlotte to help Murphy get revenge. However, he was also brave, willing to follow Bellamy into Grounder territory to help save Octavia.
Physical Description[]
John was in his late teens with light brown skin, green eyes, and black glossy hair. He was fairly tall with a lean muscular build.
Relationships[]
Bellamy Blake[]
John served as one of Bellamy's "thugs" in return for power and did his bidding without questions. He went against Bellamy to help his friend Murphy try to punish Charlotte, but later went back on this and abandoned Murphy in order to be allowed to return to camp. After this, John still trusted Bellamy enough to follow him into the Grounders' territory, leading to his eventual death.
John Murphy[]
He and Murphy appear to have known each other and were good friends before coming to Earth as when they first arrived they were always together. This is later confirmed during an ark flashback during an Earth skills class when Charles Pike attacks Murphy and Mbege tries to defend him. Murphy appeared to be the leader of their pair with Mbege supplying the muscle to back up Murphy's threats to other Delinquents who do not work. John was also willing to go against Bellamy and the other Delinquents to help Murphy when they try to lynch him and later when he wants to punish Charlotte. However, Mbege did abandon Murphy in order to be allowed to return to camp after Charlotte commits suicide.Appearances[]
