The Gagarin is a large transport dropship owned by the Eligius Corporation which originated from Earth. It is a prisoner transport ship from the mining ship, Eligius IV. It is now used by Wonkru for transportation. It is the only transport ship used to get to Eligius IV.
Before the First Nuclear Apocalypse, the dropship was constructed with strong materials and 4 thrusters to be able to land or to launch on rough terrains and to be able to dock and fuel on Eligius IV. The dropship was loaded with missiles to be able to destroy rocks or rough obstacles. The ship has computer systems in the "bridge" which can control the cryopods, the docking bay doors and other technologies on Eligius IV.
In Praimfaya, six years and seven days after Praimfaya, a ship descends down on Earth's surface. It was formerly involved with the mining of the asteroid Proxima 6 and the transportation of humans to and from the Asteroid Mining Penal Colony. It was, at first, misinterpreted by Clarke Griffin to be the ship carrying Bellamy and the others back to Earth.
Throughout the Series
In Pandora's Box, Clarke and Bellamy, along with Diyoza and the other prisoners flew on the Gagarin towards Polis, where they manage to dig out and open the Second Dawn Bunker. Before releasing everyone else in the bunker, Octavia first comes out of the bunker and sees the Gagarin on the ruins of Polis. After Diyoza and the other prisoners betray Wonkru and holds Abby and Kane hostage, they leave on the Gagarin as it lifts up and flies back to Eligius IV and the Shallow Valley.
In Shifting Sands, the prisoners on the Gagarin, along with Miles Shaw spots Wonkru marching to the desert towards the Valley. Later, on the Gagarin, as the prisoners began torturing Raven Reyes and John Murphy, Shaw intervenes and stops them. After the prisoners leave the room, Shaw helps Murphy escape from the Gagarin, while Raven stays behind. Later, when Diyoza, Shaw, and Paxton McCreary are flying the Gagarin, they began to launch a missile and fires at the Wonkru camp. However, some of the Wonkru members survived the sandstorm.
In Exit Wounds, the Gagarin begins sending food supplies and a message to Wonkru, offering them peace and shelter at the Shallow Valley. Later, the Wonkru members defect towards the Gagarin, in order to head towards Shallow Valley, but were put into shock collars.
In The Dark Year, Clarke shows McCreary the satellite screen in the Gagarin.
In Damocles (Part 1), Raven and Shaw are imprisoned in the Gagarin and McCreary and the prisoners brings them out.
In Damocles (Part 2), Raven is being forced to fly the Gagarin after Shaw is being tortured. As Raven is about to fly the ship, Clarke intervenes, with holding Diyoza at gunpoint. Realizing Wonkru were about to win, McCreary decides to bomb the Shallow Valley and tries to get Raven and Shaw to fly the Gagarin, but however, Clarke, Raven, and Shaw manages to overpower McCreary and his men and kill them. As the bomb is about to destroy the Shallow Valley, Wonkru, Spacekru, and the prisoners went on board the Gagarin and fly up to space as they escape the explosion and the destruction of the valley.
In Sanctum, after Eligius IV arrived above the habitable moon, Bellamy, Clarke, Echo, Murphy, Miller, Jackson, Emori and Shaw use the Gagarin to land on the moon. Once they make it to a village on the moon, the Gagarin is stolen by some people.
In Red Sun Rising, the second expedition crew lands the Gagarin in the same place the first expedition crew did.
Later, the Gagarin can be seen landing onto Sanctum.
