I tried not to kill you, but here you are, and Shumway said no witnesses.
— Dax to Clarke. [src]

Dax was a recurring character in the first and third seasons. He was one of the Delinquents sent to Earth to see if it can support human life. Unlike most of the Delinquents, he had been imprisoned for the far more serious crime of murder. He was employed by Commander Shumway to assassinate Bellamy Blake, after the latter had failed to kill the Chancellor. Dax was killed at the end of Day Trip, after being stabbed in the neck by Bellamy.

Throughout the Series[]

In Earth Skills, Dax follows Octavia to the dropship to have sex with her. Octavia makes it to the top level of the dropship but as Dax is climbing the ladder, he is pulled down by Atom. Atom then reveals that Dax was in prison for murder to Octavia who had been previously unaware of this.

In Murphy's Law, Dax is seen working on the wall surrounding the camp. When Murphy is accused of killing Wells Jaha, Dax watches the conflict. Not long after, him and Connor are the first two Delinquents to beat Murphy and ultimately watch him get hung and cut down when Charlotte reveals herself as the real murderer. When Murphy calls for a vote to hang Charlotte, Dax is one of the few to vote in favor.

When Murphy leads a lynch mob to chase after Charlotte, Dax is one of the four to join it. Bellamy and Clarke later decide to banish Murphy for his actions and Bellamy tells the other four that they can return to camp with him or follow Murphy to die. The four decide to return to the camp and abandon Murphy to his fate.

In Day Trip, Dax is working on curing meats for the winter when Clarke informs him that it's his turn to talk to his parents. However, Dax is greeted by Commander Shumway instead and demands to know where his mother is. Shumway promises that Dax can see her after they talk and confirms with Dax that he is in fact alone. Shumway reminds Dax that he beat a man to death, but Dax defends himself, stating that the man had stolen from him. Shumway informs Dax that he has a problem and that Dax can help him to fix it and in return, Shumway can ensure that Dax's mother has a spot on the first dropship and a choice assignment for Dax when he gets to the ground. Dax agrees and Shumway asks Dax to kill Bellamy Blake for him.

Later, Dax spots Clarke and Bellamy leaving together and follows them through the woods to an old supply depot. Once Bellamy is alone, Dax prepares to attack him with a knife, but Bellamy is called away by Clarke who found the depot's entrance. Eventually, Bellamy leaves the bunker and Dax ambushes Clarke who is hallucinating her father, knocking her out from behind.

That night, armed with a gun from the bunker, Dax ambushes Bellamy who is hallucinating Jaha and the people who died the Culling because Bellamy got rid of Raven's radio. Dax tries to shoot Bellamy, but the bullet is a dud and Dax ejects it while Bellamy grabs the gun that he had been hallucinating to shoot Dax with before he realizes that it isn't real, confusing Dax. Before he can try again, Clarke confronts Dax with a rifle of her own and demands that he drop the gun. Dax tells Clarke that she should've stayed in the bunker and he tried not to kill her, but "Shumway said no witnesses." Clarke is confused and Bellamy explains that Shumway had set it up and gave Bellamy the gun to kill Jaha. Dax gives Clarke the chance to leave and promises to not kill her in exchange, but Clarke refuses to leave and again reiterates her demand for Dax to put the gun down, but he refuses.

Clarke tries to shoot Dax, but her gun doesn't fire and Clarke is forced to duck behind a tree as Dax shoots at her. Bellamy tackles Dax to the ground and the two fight while Clarke tries to get her gun to work again. Dax gets the upper hand, beating Bellamy to the ground and strangling him with the butt of his gun. Unable to get her gun to work, Clarke tries to charge Dax and hit him with the butt of the gun instead, but Dax hears her coming and hits her with his gun instead. Bellamy takes advantage of Dax's distraction to grab the ejected dud bullet from the ground and stab Dax in the side of the neck with it, killing him.

In Join or Die, Dax is brought into a room with other Delinquents to be taught Earth skills by Charles Pike unknowing that he was going to be sent to the ground. Dax shows interest when Pike begins to make fire. During the span of two weeks, the Delinquents don't retain the information taught by Pike. During their last class, Pike begins to hit John Murphy. When Pike shoves Murphy and throws him across the room, Dax immediately reacts and attempts to pull Pike off him before the guards are alerted. Dax is later directed into the dropship which is sent to Earth with the 100.

In Perverse Instantiation (Part 1), Jasper lists some of the people who have died since landing on the ground, including Dax, although he states that Clarke had killed him, not Bellamy.
