I tried to stop her...but I lost control. She got the launch codes. It was her. She did it...but it was my fault.
— Chris, recording the message about A.L.I.E. [src]

Chris was a recurring character in the second and third seasons. He was portrayed by James Neate and debuted in Blood Must Have Blood (Part 2).

Chris was Becca Franko's assistant and had a part in the creation of A.L.I.E.. He committed suicide, blaming himself for the nuclear apocalypse.

Early Life[]

Not much is known about Chris' early life but at some point, he began working with Becca Franko on the A.I. known as A.L.I.E.

Throughout the Series[]

In Blood Must Have Blood (Part 2), Thelonious Jaha and John Murphy arrive at an island across the sea. Murphy stays behind at a lighthouse while Jaha chases after another drone and arrives at a mansion. At the lighthouse, Murphy finds a bunker and enters it.

In the bunker, Murphy finds a TV and pushes play. A home movie shot on May 10, 2052 in the same bunker appears onscreen. Murphy watches as the man explains how he lost control and how "she" got the launch codes. He apologizes before shooting himself dead.

In Wanheda (Part 1), Murphy is in the lighthouse and witnesses the man (Chris) commit suicide on video 97 years earlier in 2052. He looks behind him at the blood spot on the couch just as the door closes and he is locked inside the lighthouse. The video continues playing as two men enter, looking for Chris and find him dead on the couch. They say the news was wrong and it wasn't China; Chris let A.L.I.E. out. They move Chris's body out of the bunker so they are not trapped inside with his corpse when the radiation comes but they apparently never make it back in since Murphy finds the gun still sitting next to the couch.

Over the next three months, Murphy tries to break out of the lighthouse and grows increasingly desperate as he watches the videos left behind over and over again. The videos show Chris introducing Becca to the personification of A.L.I.E., who has taken on Becca's (her creator's) image as her avatar because Becca was the one who told A.L.I.E. she needed an avatar.

Murphy's mental state continues to deteriorate in the bunker and he is reciting lines from the videos he has seen over and over again while trapped. In one of the videos, A.L.I.E. relates her core command is to "make life better" by "fixing the root problem," which is "too many people."

In 'Thirteen', in a flashback he contacts Becca and Peri on Polaris and tells them he let A.L.I.E out. Becca tells him to send her poison pill and he says he did ten minutes ago and that A.L.I.E. locked him out of everything. She tells him to go to the lighthouse bunker.
