"Back in episode 3 everybody thought that Russell's people are the good guys. Now in really doubting whether they are the good guys."
There are no good guys in the show, in my opinion. Every group of people, no matter what they thought of themselves as, have done and continue to do horrible things.
The traditions on Sanctum are brutal, no doubt, just like many traditions the Grounders carried on. It's just their way of life. Not a good one, but it's what so many people there worship and support within that group of people.
With that being said, I don't think Russell is as bad of a person as he seems. He was willing to sacrifice one of the Primes (Kaylee) and her entire family by leaving them outside the shelter during the Red Sun just to save the rest of his people. There would be a good chance that he wouldn't be able to retrieve the chips either if the CoG stole the bodies and/or chips, thus placing an end to one whole line of Primes.
On another note, you could see it killed him to do what he did to Clarke. He just wanted his daughter back so badly. Clarke is always willing to kill to save the peope she loves, even if those people are innocent or even those she considers her "friends".
