ALIE is an AI. And is the biggest danger to any AI?! That it starts making it's own decisions based on what it thinks is right. The moment ALIE used those nukes she went beyond her programing. And she was clearly adapting as things went along. So, yeah... She lying wasn't beyond her.
Remember how she seduced and trapped people's minds. With lies! She stripped people of their free will, she ordered the death of people that didn't went along with her plans or simply opposed her. So she clearly had gone beyond what Becca had programmed her to do and be.
No. If you watched the finale Becca clearly said that she is ONLY programmed to save human kind. Machines can't overcome their own programming, that's crazy. They can only go in to deep lengths of their programming or expand it which is what Allie did.
But ALIE already went beyond her programming. So lying isn't beyond her, the same way that killing billions of people wasn't beyond her, and nailing and placing them on display also wasn't beyond her.
So yes. She most likely could lie, especially seeing what she faced. She faced death. Or her concept of death. Any AI advance enough to produce thought processes similar to human brains, can in time even develop what we call feelings. Things like fear. Yes, she was justifying her actions as she fulfilling her programming, but she wasn't. That was clear as water.
And yes. AI's and even simple software many times can have its root coding changed, or tampered with. When multiple softwares interact within a system, they're open to alterations.
Haven't you ever had your windows operating system simply not starting up? Although you hadn't installed suspicious software and had your anti-virus updated. Why do you think that happens? It happens because subtle changes in the root coding of a key piece of software was changed. And it changed itself. Not because it wanted to, but because it simply happens sometimes. There's multiple factors to take into account, one of them is the so called "ghost in the machine" that's become at the same time a joke and a myth amongst programmers.
An AI in theory is even worst, especially if the AI is built primary on software alone. Because it can reach a point where it becomes so self-aware that it can actually change its own programming, however it wants.
This is artificial intelligence 101, that I'm referring here. There's entire books written about this stuff. I should know. I work in software development.
Also any hypothesis or solution to the meltdowns problem, if they follow it through, will look like pure fantasy. Something they made up that's possibly even totally illogical, and the show will seem like a joke.
I still find it hard to believe that ALIE is just... gone or destroyed. Especially after uploading herself to Earth Monitoring Station. Something in my gut makes me want to say that ALIE will be back.
Also, wouldn't unattended nuclear reactors have blown up 97 years ago? 96? It seems odd that they made it 97 years without human attendance as it is. Arkadia definitly doesnt have the technology or resources to launch Ark 2.0 so i'm not sure how they are going to dodge that bullet.
they are bonna spend 2 episodes on reaching the reactors and spend 3 sentences on where they found their transports and then then they will be safe and a new threat will be intoduced......
remember wanheda part 1 and 2...... how she was commanders biggest threat but noone gave 2 fucks about her because fuck logical writing....... s4 is gonna be the same, im calling it.....
Was Pike killed because the actor had other commitments (similar to Lexa) or because the fans demanded this?

I don't think it was either one of the two. I think it was part of Octavia's promise she made to herself, to bring justice for Lincoln. I think that's mainly what's up.
I mean, sure fans disliked his character (as they should cause he was the antagonist) and I don't think anyone is entirely devastated that Pike is dead now. But I don't think that decision was influenced by the fans either. Not any more than killing off Dante Wallace was, I believe?
I know Mike is close to many people of the cast, as evident by the many behind the scenes pictures he took. He's also very nice on twitter, so it's not like people wanted him off the show.
it was for the plot reasons..... and part of octavias character growth...... like if you rewatch the episode, it was foreshadowing her killing pike from the start....... which was one of the best written things this season..... trully like first they foreshadowed something..... and then they did it, no other options, no exit, bam, dead......
Yeah. The scene with Pike was completely clear that it was gonna happen.
First Octavia wounded him on purpose, then he saves her life, and in the end, his eyes... They were almost shouting "Come on! End this! Or I will!"

I hope ALIE does come back! maybe her code as uploaded into the flame?
I think the whole nuclear powerplant storyline has come in so that if they get cancelled next season after the controversy they had this season, they have a solid way to end it.

Residual memory still rolling in there.
I liked the finale but it did not have much "suspense" as the first or second season finales... but all in all I liked the episode and poor Pike! i don't like him so much but he was trying to make peace with Octavia...but well i don't know, Octavia "needed" to kill him because he killed Lincoln (i think 3x19 was the saddest episode for me). Octavia would be a dark girl next season but i will still liking her and will continue to be my favorite character and the first on my list of favorites, after her raven and jasper, and after them i think clarke, monty, harper, bellamy, murphy, and emori (and lexa RIP)
