Here are my terms. The valley is ours. Any attempt to get there will be met by overwhelming force. As long as you stay here, we won't have a problem.
Charmaine Diyoza to Wonkru [src]

The Battle for Eden, also known as the Battle for a Valley, is an important armed conflict between the Wonkru/Spacekru Alliance and the Eligius prisoners. The war unofficially began when the prisoners landed in Shallow Valley territory on April 7, 2156, but officially began after a failed peace meeting between Charmaine Diyoza and Octavia Blake on April 10. During the conflict, the prisoners and Wonkru try to take control of the Shallow Valley, but the battle ends with the Damocles Event that destroys the valley, and the death of Paxton McCreary.

Background Edit

On April 4, 2047, after the crew aboard Eligius IV reported that the prisoners were getting sick, the Eligius Corporation decided to initiate "Order 11", which would abandon the prisoners on an asteroid, and bring home the Hythylodium. Captain Stevens agreed, but the ship's crew member, Miles Shaw did not, which led to the shock collars being deactivated, causing a mutiny on the ship that killed Captain Stevens and the crew of the ship, except Shaw, and destroyed one of the engines. The prisoners decided to return to Earth, but with one less engine working, the journey home would take decades. Therefore, the prisoners were put into cryosleep, and in 2156, they finally returned to Earth.

Meanwhile, Earth has been devastated by two nuclear apocalypse, first in 2052 and then in 2150. Most of Earth is barren except for one green spot: Shallow Valley. Since 2150, only two people have been living on the ground, Clarke Griffin and Madi, and they call Shallow Valley their home. Several hundred people survive underground in a bunker in Polis. In addition, there are seven survivors living in the remnants of the Ark.

Events Edit

Arrival Conflict Edit

In Eden, Charmaine Diyoza, Paxton McCreary and Miles Shaw, along with the other prisoners, land in Shallow Valley on a transport ship named Gagarin and heads towards the village. They had spied the green spot from space and fan out to check the location. Spying on them, Clarke gets a read on their numbers and weaponry. When a couple of the prisoners find Madi, Clarke runs back to her. Clarke and Madi end up killing the two men, but the gunshots tell the rest of the prisoners that they are not alone. This means an unofficial start of the war.

In Sleeping Giants, in the valley, Paxton and Charmaine lead the other prisoners to continue their search for the inhabitants. Clarke manages to kill four of the prisoners before getting wounded. A couple moments later, Clarke is captured by Paxton and Miles Shaw. McCreary and Shaw disagree on their methods because Shaw is sympathetic while McCreary just wants to kill her. Diyoza orders them to bring Clarke alive for interrogation.

McCreary continues to pursue Madi. Meanwhile, in the village, Clarke refuses to talk until she realizes that McCreary is approaching Madi by the shot distance. Clarke agrees to tell the prisoners everything and in return that Diyoza orders McCreary to spare Madi's life.

A couple hours later, Spacekru land on the ground, but they immediately come face to face with the prisoners who told the other prisoners that there are more people in the valley. On realizing that there are other people, Diyoza asks McCreary to intensify his torture for Clarke, claiming that she lied to them. Madi and Bellamy arrive just when Paxton was dragging Clarke outside to torture her.

Ongoing Conflict Edit

In Pandora's Box, Charmaine and McCreary along with the other prisoners help Bellamy and Clarke to open the Bunker, they come down and assess the situation. A couple hours later, after rescuing some people from the bunker, Diyoza standing next to the Gagarin tells that she cannot find Abby who snuck off with Kane so Clarke could hide them. They threaten the Wonkru people with their high powered drill guns. When Bellamy cannot reach Raven by radio, Diyoza demands that Clarke bring out Abby. As Wayne Szybunka from the Gagarin crew aims the drill gun at the crowd, Abby comes out and surrenders herself saying she will go freely under the condition that they take Kane too. As Abby and Kane are taken away, Diyoza announces to the crowd that the valley belongs to her people and they will use overwhelming force to protect it. As the crew begins to leave, Szybunka sees Octavia glare at him and in a paranoid rage, he aims at her. A guard saves her and is immediately disintegrated by the weapon. Chaos ensues as the prisoners frantically rush to their ship.

On the Gagarin, Diyoza commands Shaw to send missiles into the crowd and into the bunker "because of this idiot" referring to Szybunka. Shaw has to be forced by gunpoint to launch the missiles, but he discovers that Raven has remotely changed their launch codes. As they prepare to strap in for take off, McCreary executes Szybunka with a gunshot to the head.

On the ground, Octavia declares war.

In Shifting Sands, the prisoners on the Gagarin, along with Miles Shaw spot Wonkru marching in the desert towards Shallow Valley. Later, on the Gagarin, as Paxton McCreary began torturing Raven Reyes and John Murphy, Shaw intervenes and stops him. After the prisoners leave the room, Shaw helps Murphy escape from the Gagarin, while Raven stays behind. Later, when Diyoza, Shaw, and Paxton McCreary are flying the Gagarin, they began to launch a missile and fires it at the Wonkru camp. However, some of the Wonkru members survived the sandstorm.

In Exit Wounds, an opportunity for Echo arises when Diyoza, through Kane's help, sends a message asking Wonkru to defect from Octavia's leadership and join her at the valley. Diyoza aboard the Gagarin begins sending food supplies and a message to Wonkru, offering them peace and shelter in Shallow Valley. Octavia doesn't want to show any signs of weakness. So, she asks Cooper to send patrol that would shoot and kill any defectors caught going towards the Prisoners' ship. When she finds Bellamy saying goodbye to Echo, Octavia asks Echo to prove herself by spying on all potential defectors and sending the names to her. While Echo is spying Monty is instructed to start working on a way to block the Prisoners' "eye" signal so that they can no longer track Wonkru's moves. Echo offers to take the flash drive with her and spy from the inside. Once inside, she would give the drive to Raven who would know what to do.

Octavia agrees and asks the Wonkru patrol to stand down. She asks Bellamy to stay behind because Diyoza would never accept that Octavia's brother defected against her. Bellamy agrees and says his goodbyes to Echo. However, on their way out, Kara Cooper shoots most of the defectors. Bellamy confronts Octavia about it but she states that she only promised to let Echo go. And if she were to just let them go without resistance, Diyoza would be suspicious.

Later, the Wonkru members defect towards the Gagarin, in order to head towards Shallow Valley, but were put into shock collars.

In Acceptable Losses, Echo joins Raven in the valley as a defector. She tells Raven about her plan with Octavia and Monty to take control of the prisoners' satellite by inserting Monty's flash drive into the system. Raven tells Echo about Shaw and the fact that he's on their side. After she confronts Shaw about standing up to Diyoza, Shaw defends Diyoza by explaining his back story and how Diyoza once spared his life. Echo is willing to do anything to get access to the ship. So, she goes against Raven's wish and tells Diyoza that Shaw was the one who disabled the missile system but blamed it on Raven. She urges Diyoza to take them to the ship's command center so that Raven can prove that Shaw did it. While Raven is digging through the code, Echo inserts the flash drive into the computer system. It runs Monty's software and disables the satellite. Raven then shows Diyoza system log proving that Shaw disabled the missiles. Shaw is beaten up for betraying Diyoza. They spare his life because they need him as a pilot. However, they put a shocker collar on his neck.

The ship's system transmits signal to the computers at the bunker. After realizing that Echo and Raven were successful in gaining control over the satellite, Clarke and Bellamy agree to hide the information from Octavia. If Octavia found out, she would go to the next phase of her plan: infecting a defector with the worms to kill everyone at the valley. Clarke and Bellamy agree to go with Monty, Harper, and Madi to rescue their friends at the valley before Octavia attacks the valley. Even though they would be saving their friends, Monty doesn't like the idea of the attack at all. This is escalated after reading Jasper's letter which turns out to be a suicide note. In the letter, Jasper complains about how they keep fighting war after war and never seem to win.

When Clarke goes in to get Madi, she finds her sitting with the other children to show her fighting skills to Octavia. After Ethan wins a round, Octavia order Madi to go next. At first, Madi acts weak as she had agreed with Clarke and Gaia. But then, she changes her mind and fights with confidence, easily overpowering her opponent. Clarke is disappointed. Octavia is impressed by Madi's performance. She orders for Madi to be given a real sword, ready to fight. Octavia tells Clarke that she needs to borrow Madi for a strategy session. Realizing that she can't leave with Madi and that she's tired of the endless cycle of wars, Clarke comes up with a new plan. She radio-calls Diyoza to ask for what it would take to share the valley with Wonkru. Diyoza says that all she needs is an unconditional surrender. But Octavia would never agree to that. So, Clarke concludes that there's only one way to avoid the war if she and her friends "take [Octavia] out".

In How We Get to Peace, Diyoza gets a call from Murphy and Emori revealing that they trapped McCreary. They are willing to offer McCreary back alive in exchange for Raven. When Kane tells Diyoza that they can't trust Murphy, she tells Murphy to kill McCreary if they want to. Diyoza then tells Kane that she wants McCreary dead because he and his followers are very difficult to work with. Later, Diyoza and Kane start planning how they are going to build the valley. She reveals to Kane that she is pregnant and hopes that they can build a school for her baby girl to go.

When McCreary wakes up, Murphy reveals that Diyoza didn't care about him. McCreary is upset and felt betrayed by Diyoza but is impressed by Murphy's bomb skills. He asks Murphy to join his gang. So, they come up with a plan for McCreary to pretend that he's captured Murphy, but take him into the camp to rescue Raven. Emori half-heartedly agrees to the plan. When McCreary arrives at the valley, Diyoza watches as she marches down to face him.

In Sic Semper Tyrannis, Murphy and Emori are reunited with Raven and Echo. They start brainstorming on how to escape. Echo brings up her plan to kill Shaw so that Raven can become the pilot and use the ship against the prisoners. But Raven tells them that Shaw could be useful to them as a spy. She comes up with an idea to divide the prisoners through infighting. While the prisoners are fighting, Raven and Emori would then quickly disable the collars from their people and escape. Raven asks Shaw to come with them but when Shaw refuses, Raven threatens him. So, Shaw agrees to let them take off his collar.

Murphy figures out that dividing the prisoners should be easy because there's already rivalry between McCreary and Diyoza's people. McCreary is mad that Diyoza refused to trade Raven for his life. And Diyoza has been asking Abby to hide the cure from McCreary and his people so that they can all die out. So, Murphy tells McCreary about the cure to make him angry at Diyoza; and Echo tells Diyoza to prepare for McCreary. This leads to a showdown between McCreary and Diyoza's people. Diyoza tries to avoid a fight by coming clean about the cure and telling them her plans for the valley. This calms both sides down, to Murphy's disappointment.

Out of options, Murphy decides to incite a fight by throwing a stone at the crowd. This instantly causes both sides to break into a fight. With Murphy's job done, he goes back to the church where Raven and Echo are quickly turning off the collars from their people. Just before they escape, Kane comes in and tells them that they have to save Diyoza. He tells them about the peace plan he initiated between Diyoza and Clarke. While Murphy and Raven feel guilty for jeopardizing the peace plan, Echo confidently believes that there is no way Octavia would surrender. Murphy agrees to go with Kane to save Abby and Diyoza while Raven, Emori, Echo and Shaw escape into the woods. Murphy and Kane go to the medical room where McCreary and Diyoza start fighting for Abby. McCreary's men manage to capture Abby. Diyoza beats McCreary down as she reveals that she's pregnant with his baby. One of McCreary's men gets up and is ready to shoot Diyoza just before Kane arrives and shoots him down.

Diyoza flees into the transport ship with Kane, Murphy, and the others. Afterwards, McCreary wakes up and declares that he's taking over the leadership. He orders his people to hunt all the traitors especially Shaw, Raven and her friends. He also makes it clear that he will not honor Diyoza's peace treaty with Clarke.

In The Warriors Will, McCreary takes away Abby's drugs until she agrees to treat him. So, Abby uses Vinson to bring the drugs to her by pretending that he's coming for a medical check up. Unfortunately, Vinson gets busted by McCreary's guards. They attack him and he starts biting them. Abby uses the opportunity to get her hands on the drugs.

Upon arriving at the valley, Clarke and Madi are shocked to see McCreary's people killing some of the defectors. When one of the prisoners is left to bury the dead, Madi and Clarke approach him and force him to tell them what's going on. He explains that McCreary is in charge now and that Diyoza is in hiding. They ask where to find Abby. After that, Madi kills him immediately. Clarke and Madi head to the gas station medical room. They find Abby lying on the floor, unconscious, due to overdosing.

In The Dark Year, While Clarke makes her help Abby, McCreary enters the room and wonders how Clarke and Madi got in without being detected by "the eye." Without hesitation, Clarke reveals that Wonkru worked with Raven and Echo to turn off the satellite camera and replace its feed with a video loop. Clarke and McCreary make a deal for him to let her and Madi stay as long as Clarke gets Abby back on her feet to treat McCreary and his people.

Madi confronts Clarke for betraying Octavia and Wonkru to McCreary but Clarke insists that it is the only way to keep her and Madi alive. Madi disagrees, arguing that they wouldn't be able to live with themselves. After waking up and hearing Clarke's plan, Abby opposes it too. She tells Clarke that McCreary is a horrible, dangerous. But Clarke insists that she and McCreary have to work together because they both want the same thing - to stop Octavia.

Meanwhile, Raven, John, Emori and Echo are hiding in a cave with Shaw, Diyoza and Kane. They notice that McCreary has called off his people from hunting them and is moving them to strategic positions. They realize that McCreary knows Wonkru is coming. They figure out that Clarke must have betrayed them to McCreary. So, they radio Bellamy to warn Wonkru that all the entrances into the valley are now blocked. However, Bellamy says they don't have a choice because they are already on their way and don't have enough food rations left to return to Polis. So, Echo promises to think of a way for them to get in. Indra and Bellamy tell Octavia about the situation. Bellamy angrily blames Octavia for leading them to a death trap after burning down the hydrofarm back in Polis.

To figure out a way for Wonkru to enter safely, Spacekru leaves the cave and starts scanning the area. Raven urges Shaw to remain behind so that he doesn't get captured and tortured by McCreary to launch the missiles. After noticing McCreary's ammunitions, Murphy suggests stealing it, leaving McCreary without weapons. Unfortunately, they're confronted by McCreary's people with more deadly weapons. Just before Spacekru surrenders, Shaw shows up and gives himself up. He tells McCreary's people that they would probably get a big reward if they take him because he's more valuable to McCreary than Spacekru. They are convinced and let down their guard. Shaw grabs the opportunity to attack them, knocking them down within seconds. Spacekru then jumps in to help Shaw in the fight. After that, Echo is impressed by Shaw's combat skills. But Raven seems disappointed. Later in the cave, Raven reveals that she was only mad because Shaw risked his life and made her worry about him. They share a passionate kiss.

As Spacekru explains what they observed, Diyoza figures out that McCreary is using the battle plan she wrote. She tells them that it was very thorough and no loopholes. However, she says that she has a plan. So, Echo calls Bellamy and Indra to tell them about the plan. Before telling Octavia Echo's plan, Bellamy makes Octavia promise that she would be willing to share the valley with the prisoners if they surrendered. Otherwise, there would be a lot of body count on both sides. Octavia says that she wants the same thing too. She just wishes it was possible without a war. As they get closer to the valley, Wonkru sets up tents for most of the people to stay there while just a few march into the valley. Bellamy says goodbye to Monty and marches to the valley with Octavia, Indra and a couple other warriors.

Just before Wonkru's arrival, Diyoza and Kane surrender themselves to McCreary. However, McCreary doesn't trust them. Diyoza tells him that she knows he's using her battle plan and they've used a loophole in it to tell Wonkru how to get inside the valley. Kane offers to help him stop Octavia if he lets him and Diyoza back in. Kane then justifies his position by saying that he would never let the devil (Octavia) inside that valley.

Battle at the Valley Edit

In Damocles (Part 1), McCreary's men ambush Wonkru at the gorge, causing 417 fatalities and trapping Bellamy, Octavia, Indra, and Gaia. Meanwhile, Madi hears the attack over the radio and tries to help, but Clarke forcibly detains her. Approximately 300 surviving Wonkru members retreat to the wasteland and descend into disarray. Echo, Raven, and Shaw go into McCreary's camp to recover Madi so she can lead Wonkru, however Clarke betrays them to McCreary, and Raven and Shaw are imprisoned in the Gagarin as McCreary and the prisoners brings them out. Vinson attacks Kane and grievously injures him, however Vinson is killed by Abby. Recalling Lexa's memories from the Flame, Madi sways Clarke to her side and convinces her to never make a terrible decision. Clarke kills McCreary's guards and stays to prevent the launch of the transport ship while Madi and Echo return to Wonkru. Back at the gorge Octavia decides to draw the fire of McCreary's men so that Bellamy and Indra can flee with Gaia, but before she gets gunned down, they're saved by the Rover carrying Bellamy's group and Madi.

In Damocles (Part 2), Raven agrees to fly the Gagarin to prevent Shaw from being tortured. As Raven is about to liftoff, Clarke intervenes, holding Diyoza at gunpoint. Meanwhile, Madi, who is now a new Commander, leads Wonkru to launch an attack against the prisoners. Using the plan Madi made with the Flame's help, Bellamy, Echo, Murphy, and Emori shoot the cannons inside the prisoners' pillboxes to blow them up. This opens up the gorge, allowing Madi to lead the Wonkru charge into Shallow Valley and overpower McCreary's group. Realizing Wonkru were about to win, McCreary deploys the Damocles bomb. Clarke, Raven, and Shaw kill McCreary and his men, but there is no way to stop the bomb. In the Shallow Valley village, McCreary's group surrenders. Madi orders Wonkru to execute them, but Bellamy advises her that they've already surrendered and it is time to end the cycle of war. She agrees to keep them alive and give them a chance to prove their worth. Just then, the sirens sound and Raven broadcasts a message that the valley is about to be destroyed. She orders everyone to get to the Gagarin, and the survivors, Wonkru, Spacekru, and the prisoners, run to the ship. As the bomb is about to destroy Shallow Valley, the Gagarin lifts up and escapes to space. Below them, the bomb explodes and destroys the valley.

Aftermath Edit

Survivors watched Earth burn from a safe distance on the Gagarin, they arrive on board the Eligius IV. The leaders hold a meeting to once again determine the fate of the human race. During the meeting, they brainstorm on how to survive until the Earth is habitable again. Monty suggests growing his algae but the idea is quickly shot down by everyone else. Shaw points out that, based on Hythylodium's half-life, it will take at least ten years for the valley to be habitable again. So, both Shaw and Raven propose using the cryogenic chambers that kept the prisoners alive for hundreds of years. Madi accepts their suggestion.

Quotes Edit

Echo: "They're digging in at all 3 northern entry points. Dry tributaries here, here, and here. Each position has two pillboxes on either side of the entry point with gunners evenly divided."
Charmaine Diyoza: "Son of a bitch. He's using my playbook. Two gunner positions at each entry point. My battle plan called for the use of Eligius blast shelters. I dropped my notebook at the gas station. McCreary must have found it."
Echo: "How detailed?"
Charmaine Diyoza: "Deployment formations. Weapons distributions. First strike options. Countermoves. Everything I could think of. And I think of everything."

Bellamy Blake: "This war that you're so anxious for is about to be fought on the last survivable land on earth. That is monumentally stupid. But it's here, and in 4 days, when we march on that valley, we are gonna fight this the right way."
Octavia Blake: "Does the right way end up with us winning?"
Bellamy Blake: "It ends with us accepting the other side's surrender. Once they lay down their arms, we share the valley with them."

Bellamy Blake: "We've been here before, Madi. We were the criminals. The 100. We landed in someone else's home, and we went to war. You can execute them because they're the enemy or you can break the cycle. You can be better than them. You can be better than us. The choice is yours, Heda."

Raven Reyes: "Everyone, listen up. Life as we know it is about to end again. Get your asses to the transport ship now for immediate evacuation."
