— Anya [src] |
Anya was a recurring character in the first and second seasons. She was portrayed by cast member Dichen Lachman and debuted in "Unity Day". She was the leader of a unit in the Woods Clan. She was once the mentor of the former Grounder Commander, Lexa. She was one of the main antagonists of Season One, alongside Diana Sydney.
Anya was an original inhabitant of Earth. She had been living with her clan in the area where the 100 landed since before the events of the series premiere.
In Season Two, she was held prisoner by the Mountain Men who were using the Grounders for their blood. After being rescued by Clarke Griffin, Anya escaped Mount Weather through the Reaper mines but was later killed outside the entrance to Camp Jaha by a Guard's gunshot.
Early Life[]
Anya was born on Earth. Not much is known about her life prior to the arrival of the Sky People. At some point, she became a Trikru warrior and leader. Anya was Lexa's mentor before Lexa became the Commander.
Throughout the Series[]
In Unity Day, Anya is first seen taking part in the truce between the Delinquents and Grounders set up by Finn and Lincoln. She rides in on a horse beside two guards and dismounts. She walks toward Clarke and introduces herself. They soon begin discussing their recent conflicts with the Delinquents and potential ideas for peace. Below the bridge they are on, Jasper notices Grounders in the trees with bow and arrows aimed at Clarke and shoots at them. Bellamy and Raven fire their assault rifles as well. In retaliation, the Grounders begin shooting arrows at the Delinquents. One shoots at Octavia, but Lincoln manages to take it in his shoulder. He rips it out, calling it only a scratch and Anya flees back to her village with the Grounders.
In The Calm, Anya, with the help of the other Grounders, abduct Clarke and Finn, demanding that they help save Tris, a young Grounder that was caught in the explosion of the bomb that the Delinquents set off. Anya threatens Clarke by stating that if Tris dies, she will kill Finn. Anya says she needs Clarke's help to heal Tris because their healer is gone. Clarke is furious and demands to know why they sent a young girl into battle, and Anya explains that Tris was with her, as her Second, and that is how they train them to be warriors. Clarke fails to save Tris, and Anya is deeply upset by this. She cuts a piece of Tris' hair off and allows one of the Grounders to take her away. Anya turns to another Grounder and orders him to take Finn away and kill him. Clarke is held back by the remaining Grounder as she screams and cries, saying she did everything she could to save Tris.
In We Are Grounders (Part 1), Anya keeps Clarke as a prisoner in the woods. While staring at Clarke, a grounder named Tristan walks in and tells Anya that he is taking over her unit, ordered to do so by the Commander. Anya complies but just before deciding the fate of Clarke, Anya and Tristan see a flame in the distance, indicating Reapers have been spotted. Anya instructs a Grounder to kill Clarke and they move forward. When discovering Clarke and Finn are still alive, Anya, Tristan, and a few other Grounders chase them down. Anya shoots arrows at the group as they escape into the Reaper tunnels. Anya screams Lincoln's name as he helped the two escape trouble, but Tristan tells her to stop worrying about them and get ready for the battle.
In We Are Grounders (Part 2), Anya participates in the battle between the Grounders and the Delinquents. When interrogating John Murphy, Anya can be seen alongside Tristan as he stabs Murphy in the leg, and they move forward on The Camp. While climbing hills with other Grounders, Anya witnesses The Ark coming to the Ground. She and her brethren see it as reinforcements but do not believe they will arrive in time, so they march on The Camp regardless. When the Delinquents attempt to close the Dropship door, Anya manages to slip in and attempts to fight. Overwhelmed by the amount of Delinquents in the ship, Anya is unsure of attacking. When she does, Nathan Miller slams her in the back of the head with the butt of his assault rifle, and the Delinquents begin kicking her. This is then stopped by Clarke, who tells them they are not Grounders. When the Delinquents exit the Dropship, Anya is tied up and looks upon her dead brethren. Suddenly, the Mountain Men abduct them all.
In Inclement Weather, she is seen in a cage in Mount Weather, waiting to be drained of her blood after being taken prisoner by the Mountain Men. Clarke immediately recognizes her.
In Reapercussions, Anya and Clarke work together to escape the underground area of Mount Weather. While trapped, they discover Mount Weather has Reapers down in their underground chamber for unknown reasons. They climb into a cart to hide from the Reapers with other dead or mortally wounded Grounders. However, a Reaper comes by and starts to push the cart. After seeing what the Reapers are doing to the Grounders, Anya kills one of her own out of mercy and she and Clarke escape. However, Anya eventually abandons Clarke to fend for herself. After Clarke is captured by two Mountain Men, Anya decides to rescue her and they both jump off of the Philphot Dam. However, after arriving at shore, Anya quickly reveals her true intentions for saving Clarke, tying her up and taking her back to camp.
In Many Happy Returns, Anya is first seen taking Clarke to her camp but they are quickly ambushed by Mountain Men. Clarke and Anya manage to escape, however they realize they are being tracked. Anya theorizes it is Clarke's odor that is giving them away and forces Clarke to cover herself in mud, but Clarke realizes that Anya has a tracking device embedded under the skin of her arm. Clarke recommends taking it out herself, but Anya refuses and bites it out of her arm. As they continue, Clarke gets the drop on Anya and injects her with one of the tranquilizer darts fired at them earlier by the Mountain Men, taking Anya as prisoner. As they reach the Dropship, Clarke sees a message that has been wiped off the Dropship. Anya quickly rises and begins to fight her. Ultimately Clarke wins, punching her in the face several times. Clarke sees Raven and Wick's balloon, now aware of where her new home is. As Anya and Clarke reach Camp Jaha, Clarke sets her free in an attempt to make amends with the Grounders. They agree to work together, however in a cruel twist of fate, a trigger happy Ark Guard shoots Anya in the back from long range as she walks away, killing her.
In Human Trials, she is mentioned by Clarke to Abby, saying one of the people that would have helped the Sky People was killed, referring to Anya.
In Long Into an Abyss, Anya is mentioned by Clarke when trying to gain the trust of Commander Lexa. Clarke shows her condolences and knows how much Anya meant to Lexa.Personality[]
Anya naturally displayed a lack of trust for the Delinquents and as an experienced leader of the Grounders, she approached them with enmity. Initially, her character was one defined by stoicism, but we saw from Anya's protective response to the death of Tris, her young "second", a previously unseen compassionate, motherly dimension to her character. Anya was very determined and protective towards her clan members and even willing to go to war with the Delinquents for their deaths. Anya is also shown to have a honorable way when she accepted Clarke's offer and redeemed herself seconds before her death.
Physical Appearance[]
Anya had braided dark blonde hair with black roots. She had hazel, almond-shaped eyes, and wore black war paint on her face. She also wore black leather clothes.
Relationships[]
Tris[]
Tris was a young tribesgirl that Anya cared a lot about. She was deeply hurt by Tris' death and kept a lock of Tris' hair in memory of her. She cared about Tris enough to have Finn be killed due to it being part of his fault she had died, as he was one of the Delinquents who set off the bomb that resulted in Tris being killed. It was not until Tris was dying that we saw the other, less brutal side of Anya.

Lexa[]
Anya was Lexa's mentor before Lexa was called to be the leader of her people. Lexa has been shown to care very deeply for Anya. Lexa began trusting Clarke because of her past relationship with Anya, showing how close she was to Anya.Appearances[]
